Maybe it has to do with seeing them often, but I agree with C5 on not giving it up immediately. I understand everybody is different, and I'm not saying thinking like that is right or wrong, and some have more to give than others too; but I personally try to put my "feelings" aside and stick close to what I'm willing to part with.

Generally there is a going rate around the trail, so I stick to what's in that range, give or take a little. I think it's a good topic though, so I'm interested to see how other people handle themselves. Some of you have good advice on how to pay and tipping, so I'd like to see some other thoughts.
