For your last question, probably yea. But the chances are also real slim because its prob a scam. You'll learn to almost NEVER send any sort of payment or deposit before meeting. In my experiences, only true SBs will accept payments AFTER the meet / session. The ones that don't are either lookin to scam / rob you, or are pros. Everytime I've paid beforehand I've either been scammed or robbed of services in my experiences (which isn't much tbh).
Things I've learned and red flags as well.
Super photoshopped or doesn't seem legitimate pics = sketch.
No social media = sketch.
Asking for deposits or payments before meeting no matter what excuse they give = sketch.
They shoot you their number quick to also take conversations offline = they've done this before and aren't new to the game.
They offer a crazy menu right off the bat and promise you the world = sketch. This is where I get in trouble the most.
You meet them at a motel / hotel = sketch or a pro.
Longer their bio, higher chance of having GPS (golden pussy syndrome).

Mongering habits don't fully translate into sugaring. When mongering scenarios happen within a sugar context, know that you're dealing with a pro, very likely a rob.
Sugar babies don't have menus, only hardened prostitutes set all sorts of rules. A non pro will have her preferences, and will accommodate you if she's into you.
As you mentioned, never give any money before the action: tricks do this, but not SDs. There's absolutely no reason to send money electronically before a date. Turning down a cash allowance is an obvious red flag.

So many SD's start off some where else, the AMP, the street, or wherever. While there is a lot of cross over, the goal for most SD's, the guys that don't really partake elsewhere, is to find the newbiest girl possible, the kind you would never meet anywhere else. You really need to come at these girls a bit differently. Trying to explain it all is a bit too much, and there are so many stories on other threads on this platform to learn from. No two arrangements are alike, as both people bring their different backgrounds and objectives to the table. That being said, when both come together in good faith, looking for the promise of a great connection. Be it purely physical or with good chemistry and compatibility. It is a fantastic experience.

Go back to the ATM and my card is locked again. I call the bank and while I'm on hold I text her the situation. She went cold blooded fast. One can argue that many tricks are a variation of the simp, that is, they allow the girl. Or more specifically, the girl's "boyfriend" pimp. To set the price to play, and the rules to do so. On the other hand, an SD is aware that he has the ultimate say: should the woman truly want the consistent allowance and pleasant company of a successful man, she will accommodate his desires.

Then escort guys show up an you get them asking for specific price for a blow job or how much for an hour. Its been around so long now it's standard. Escorts found their way to the sites and and guys knowing they were escorts immediately dubbed them babies. Working from motels, quoting quickies or specific acts LOL. Yeah guys ruin everything.
