I am trying to make a new account and won't let me even create a password to login, or even subscribe, without going through a final step in the profile, to take a selfie. I am not going to do this and wonder if it's something they added recently, or maybe it was triggered by the way I created my account, or who knows. I didn't use a VPN, just public wifi.

Anyway, maybe a way to just pull up some video on my phone or laptop and fake it that way. I don't know how rigid they are, with approving it. I doubt it would work, but may have to try.

And I know many of you have no problems giving your credit card, full legal name, SS#, and DNA sample to Seeking. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that, but personally, just prefer a bit more privacy, if possible.

It's just for checking profiles that my main acct is showing as blocked. It looks like it isn't forcing me to make a selfie with that one, perhaps because the account has existed since 2019.

I really need to try some of their competition and this could prompt me to do so. I still have my old acct and hopefully I can renew it, if I have to, but more difficult to find a prepaid credit card that works too, so who know.

Well I'm going to do some tests and figure out how difficult it is to pass this selfie test. You don't even need to have a profile pic uploaded, if you subscribe, so it's not like the selfie is even going to be checked against that. Maybe can just show it a picture of anyone and would pass.

I doubt it is that easy, but I will play around with it and report back.

Use your real photo to find pix online that look a lot like you, but aren't. Search for them w / tineye and the face rec software to be certain they don't show you as someone pulling pics off the web for this purpose.

Basically if you try it on the computer it makes you scan a QR code to open the app in your phone to allow camera access for a selfie. So you can't get around it having to be a selfie. Tried using a filtered pic that looks similar to me and it failed too, and it's a pic that previously had passed on my old SA account that I'd used as a profile pic. It was basically as you said, found a pic that looks like me using a real pic and it's some random guy but the AI can tell it's not an actual selfie. This is unfortunate.

Edit to add - if you try to open new account on your mobile device it automatically opens your camera, you can't upload the selfie. If you do it on a computer it requires a mobile device to scan a QR code that also opens your camera. So you'd have to snap the pic on your phone and hope it thinks it's a selfie, which it seems smart enough to tell you're taking a pic of a pic

The one good thing about this, it ought to mean that any new profiles of girls that show up have been verified in the same way, meaning they will be real people too.

It also motivates guys to keep their behavior in check, since old, grandfathered (no pun intended) profiles that didn't require this verification take on added value.

I have posted recently about old profiles that are clearly fake but have been resurrected, I am sure that is a scammer play.

Ashley Madison was full of fake accounts.

I recently saw a profile for a girl that went to High School with my kids on SA. Through a round-about way I contacted her because it didn't seem right. It wasn't. She thinks a jilted ex-boyfriend created the profile. It's not longer on SA.

Another great way to weed out possible fakes is check to see how long it's been since they have logged in. If they haven't logged in since they created the account, they are most likely fake.

First, it was a few months old and was logged into about the same amount of time from when it was created. So basically, it was created and then not logged into. Mostly inactive.

The next were the pictures, which included a lot of her friends. I know a lot of girls have pics with friends, but this seemed over-the-top to me. Also, none of the friends' faces were blurred. Again, not a guarantee.

Finally, when I said I contacted her I didn't tell her I knew of her. I just contacted her outside of SA. I didn't want her to know my profile there.

Asked is he had cash. Yep. But he didn't offer it. After chatting, she went out to get a phone charger. He thought she might not come back but she did. More chatting, mostly about SA scammers etc. Things seemed good when she went to freshen up and asked for cash. His guard was down at that point. She asked him to freshen up and 5 seconds after he was in the bathroom, he heard the door close. She was gone. There might have been a friend outside with the car running, ready to roll. In hindsight he would have asked her to undress before any cash changed hands, but that does seem rude. Lesson learned and could have been worse.
