I was doing basic porn search on xvideos and now the computer is locked by ice...some cyber crime unit and now to unlock it I have to pay $300! Says I may have broken some law and listed about 10 violations, some with some hefty fines...I do not know if this is a hacker virus to get money or something real...I have never searched for anything illegal...I tired shutting down and restarting and its completely locked by this site. ..WTF? Help.

Well, this isn't a computer support group but this is the time that you call the number for you virus checker and ask their guidance. Or your money back.
Of course, when you call tell them the truth and expect a long pause or a snicker. And hope the tech is a straight guy.
Or, you can boot up in "safe mode" and go to your history and have it boot up on the day before you got attacked with the virus. You have been faithfully backing up, haven't you?

Restart in safe mode with networking.
Do a system restore.
Google it for step by step instructions specific to your operating system.

But if the virus is any good you probably can't bring the antivirus program up, if that's the case you just have to take it to a repair shop and have them clean it for you. But make sure you take it off the internet so it doesn't enslave your computer and start sending malicious messages to people in your contact lists.

WebRoot, VIPRE, Norton, MacAfee and other quality AV software programs can easily remove the malware. Your hard drive should be fine. Just My .02. Have a good dayPG, JagXF.

WebRoot, MacAfee, Norton, VIPRE as well as Kaspersky will all "root" out your issues. Steavt is correct. ICE has nothing to do with this. These hackers are just trying to give everyone the "Grady Judd" treatment. You can sleep well, my good gent.

Help.[/QUOTE]It is a scam with virus. Didn't affect anything for a week or two then locked up my computer! WTF! Anyway I think it was giving me a blank screen while loading windows. I think this is blank screen in windows. Anyway I solved it by going into Task Manager and just proceeding and voila Windows restored. So try that. I think I got to TM by pressing control-alt-delete at same time. Once you get to windows run your virusscan. Maybe run it twice. Mine came back after a week. But haven't had a problem for about 2 months now. Gook luck.

In the future, open up a NON-ADMIN user account on your computer and only look at porn on that account. Then, when you get a trojan, virus, adware, etc., you just go back into your admin account and delete the infected one. Then open another new NON-ADMIN account and start over. If you have Norton as your protection they charge $100 to.

Then download puppy linux and install onto a usb stick or sd card and use that for the web. It runs in memory only and does not put anything onto your hard drive.

Each virus is unique and can create havoc differently from system to system, plus a remedy may differ from system to system and it also may require a different approach than others.
