The issue with Seeking is the tie-in to your profile and here there are two scenarios.

A data breach of SA's card processor will presumably not expose your profile no more than a data breach of any retail store's card processor would expose that store's accounts.

The other scenario is a breach of SA itself, in which case we don't know whether SA stores card numbers. If they're smart about it, they're processing charges as subscriptions and have no need to save card numbers, as the case with many retailers to limit liability. Monthly re-billing happens automatically by the card processor; SA is not rerunning the card. On the other hand, a data breach of SA is far more likely to expose profile user names and passwords (rather than card numbers) which is a separate problem not related to the question at hand.

When I am on another screen I get pop up messages from Seeking such as Hey xxxxx just viewed you or Hey xxxx just sent you a message.

This is ok when I am using the computer but if someone else in my house was using it I would be embarrassed.

Any advice how to prevent this?

Thnks CM.[/QUOTE]Pop-up messages happen only when logged-on. When you finish visiting Seeking be sure to log off. Not just close your browser but actually log off. It's that simple.

Also, when you (are logged on and) receive a pop-up, I believe there's an option to click on the pop-up window to turn them off, if I remember correctly.

Thnks CM.[/QUOTE]First of all you need to be more discreet when you are surfing SA and you must have your own private device. Using a shared device is a disaster waiting to happen.

I use a dedicated iPad for all of my hobbies and hide all of my fake app accounts in the extra app on my devices. I search the sites only when I am certain I am in a secure situation. You should have dedicated email, text or other apps used for communication and they should not have any of your real info that leads to the real you.

Then meet at a neutral location to make sure you're not getting mugged. I try to only book hotels that are able to be canceled. Many will use their actual email address which contains their name. A quick search with their name and city and you have their mug shot or an article in a local paper about their arrest.
