To expect for Miami Police to follow protocol is somewhat naïve.
Many years ago when I was young, handsome and rich I was stopped by police on 56 ST and NW 7 av.
I had just dropped a fellow UM student at his house on Treasure island and driving west on 79 ST on my way to I-95 south I did not realized that I could not turn left on the South Ramp and I kept going to NW 7 ST the next light and turned left looking for another pathway to I-95.
Now driving on NW 7 Av at around 56 ST I noticed police right behind me, they stopped me and two black cops came out the police trooper one on each side and order me to step out.
The moment I stepped out they grabbed me by the arm and slam me face first to the grown.
One cop put his knee on my back and the other cop search my car.
The only word out of their mouth was 'Don't you fucking move'.
Few minutes later they got a call on the Radio about something, the cop that was dogging me on the grown got up and told me, ' I don't want to see you driving around this parts of town at this time', ' If I see you again you are going in', and they drove away.
Now this is about 20 years ago and I am sure nothing has changed.
The moral of the story is; once you are out there at night in an area known for high crime or and prostitution anything can happen.
Joe Black.
OK, but I have seen several prostitution cases thrown out because of a lawyer challenging the cops who did not have an audio recording of the defendant soliciting anyone.
And, if you keep a cool head and speak as little as possible in a police encounter, you will fair much better than if you shoot off at the mouth and challenge the cops. This has been my personal experience.
