I have no recent info, I moved 10 years ago and it is no longer easy to visit, so I've not been there since; but for the prior 10 years it was my favorite spot.

I'm in a story telling mood, so I'll relate one amusing event there.

Once upon a time I visited IHC / Mini and found a police officer sitting behind the front desk along with the guy that normally handled the register. I assumed this was a harassment technique, so in the same sense that hitting the brake lights is taken by a speed trap as an admission of guilt, I felt that backing out would 'imply' that something untoward was going on. I knew the police couldn't possibly have the budget to keep it up forever, but knew the establishment needed to maintain cashflow or the tactic would work. So I went forward and reconciled myself to a good argument, I mean massage, and nothing else. After being taken to the shower and steam room, events transpired the way they always had, without regard to the presence in the front lobby. I exited the establishment, the officer nodded at me as I exited and I said good night.

Not long afterwards I encountered a news story, earlier in the week before my visit one of the downtown parlours had someone break in and kill one of the girls;

This goes in my book as one of the very few first person examples that police are not _always_ pond scum.

I'm very glad they actually took steps to keep these nice ladies safe.

I wish they demonstrated that level of morality and humanity all the time.

This was back in the 1990s. As I recall one of the girls was alledgedybeing stalked by a monger and when she rebuffed him he came in and killed her; there are likely old posts here referring to it as many mongers knew the girl. It was covered in the Post. The police you refer to who were sitting out front were almost certainly not involved in a sting; DC police can accept private security gigs and the police were ironically hired by a few spas afterwards due to fear caused by the murder. But, as mongers know, LE are almost always the best customers of the spas. There have been a few articles on LE allegedly giving advance word to spas about busts in exchange for free sex; this happened at a spa on 11th street but when the mamsan tried to bribe an honest cop she was busted.

This is one of the few AMPs (if you can call it that) in DC that I have not been to.
She had a long conversation with me, said that sometimes they are closed for whole weeks at a time.

I know that many people have had nice times here, supposedly at one point the best looking ladies in DC could be found there.
I think times have changed, she told me business is slow and they expect to close in the new year. Probably about time.

Of course it has been a few years since I have been to an AMP and I probably will not be going back.
Just thought I would report on 1818. Part of the DC legend that will likely soon be alive only in our memories.

She went back to west coast. Lost the place because she wasn't paying some of the bills. That's what I heard tonight.

Funny that some are bringing up &45208; &48708; . That was the name she used. Saw her back then twice. I was very attached to her. I believe she was drawn to / appreciative of me, as well. I COULD NOT BELIEVE that she was the one killed. Broke my heart. Could understand why others were attached to her, as well. Damn shame they had to be crazy. I think about her every so often. Like when you post stories about her passing. I won't ever forget her. Our time was brief. She was a beautiful soul. Damn shame. Always be as compassionate as you can be for those who are put into this line of work. Nobody says they want to grow up to be a massage girl when they are young.

Anyway, on a different note, one of Paula's former girls is now in Springfield for a limited time. She keeps hinting at me marrying her. If I wasn't already married, I would be doing more than hinting back. Hell, maybe I will anyway. What do you suppose the odds are for a marriage to work out between a massage girl and a client? Are there examples of it working out?

They aren't shut down for good, but due to lack of talent they may or may not be able to service you. I swung by there last weekend and was told come back later. I didn't bother as it was still early enough that there were too many passerby and something just felt off about the place. DC still has locations that offer the services of the past, but truly it's a matter of if they have employees and your luck.

Still the business! Was there a few weeks ago after they closed for a few. Had me worried! Since the DC scene dried up, this place has been heaven!

I still remember my first AMP experience at the Royal Spa right across the street from Fords Theater near the FBI building. Then the Orange Spa. Sad that the DC scene is now dead!

Saw her this weekend. Great massage, nothing else offered.

They may not have been providing extra services back then, but they advertised their flotation tank services on the radio back in the late 70's.
