I do have to ask a question. It's no secret that our local cops have been well aware of this forum, probably for years (as is probably true in most of the other cities covered by USASG). They're also well aware of what goes on in our massage parlors, hostess bars and strip clubs, as well as the "personals" section of craigslist. What they're aware of, and what they can use as probable cause for arrests, are two entirely different things.
These posts can't be used as evidence without identifying who made them. The owner of the forum will not identify any of its members without an order from a court. Further, the server hosting the forum is in Canada, not the U.S. and I believe I remember reading that the owner even formed a corporation in Canada or possibly another country, which is the legal owner of the forum. In short, it would be extremely difficult for a local prosecutor to get a foreign court to issue an order to identify a particular poster from this forum. It's far easier (and cheaper) to just send an undercover officer into an establishment to look around and scope things out, or to get information from various informants. There's probably little on this forum that the cops don't already know from other sources.
