On the positive side, you almost never saw Asians back in the day. And many neighborhoods are integrated and doing fine. So, change is gradual.

Many reasons why it is typical to find black children of single mothers who have brothers and sisters with different fathers and with no father present in the family. And I think we all know that if you grow up in that type of "family environment", you will tend to duplicate what you know when it is time to create your own family.

We also know that when you grow up in a family with a single parent or are raised by your grandmother with no role models for what it means to be a responsible adult male or to be educated, or someone who earns above minimum wage, it might be difficult for you to aspire to be responsible, educated, or earn above minimum wage. So what I am saying is that the question which you implicitly pose has its answer in another part of your post. Which makes me wonder if you really understand why racism and slavery are wrong. They are wrong because they create social, economic, political, and all sorts of other types of problems which last generations beyond the time when the slaves are emancipated and when the society and its people decide that it is wrong to treat people differently because of their skin color.

We could learn a lot from other societies and their political, economic, social, educational, health care, and governing systems. Just because we emancipated the slaves and eliminated a few of the overt indications of racism in our society does not mean we are advanced or at the forefront of human society. We have a long way to go.

And finally, I know some asshole is going to ask "But what does this have to do with getting laid?". While I can agree with most of what you were saying. The topic was more about racism and how it tends to be portrayed in our media. I wasn't speaking of crime in general, rather racially motivsted crimes. When ever a Southern or any member of white society commits a racial crime or insult it gets an inordinate amount of coverage. Just look a the Trayvon Martin case or as Satya was so quick to recall the dragging death in Texas. Why don't the racial attacks that occur with an ever increasing frequency here in B-more get any national media attention. For example the 20 something white guy that was attacked on St Patricks day. They even video taped it to show everyone just how special they were. Now can you imagine if the races were reversed? Where was Al Sharpton after this? Probably at home enjoying the video. Now it's my belief that the national media wants racial tension. Exemplifying white racism helps them to explain why there is more crime in the black communities. There are other motivating factors for this but in general this is a very one sided portrayal.

You spoke of many reasons for higher than average per capita crime amongst the black population but seemed to mention only one. Now, I have to admit that I read your post very quickly but I think you were inferring that the crime in the black community is the end result of slavery and subsequent years of racial injustice. While this is partially true, I think it is more due to a growing disparity in cultural values. This, in my opinion, is mostly the fault of the media appointed black leaders. Who instead of teaching personal responsibility teach fear, hatred, and blame. If they didn't, who would really need them. They are patronizing and only serve them selves.
