They are allowed, and in fact they are trained to do so, to lie to you in the course of an investigation. They'll do almost anything to 'turn' one of you. Don't trust them when they tell you that your friend admitted to the both of you doing something unlawful. They are nearly always lying to trick you into confessing, and then they just might arrest you when you do in fact admit something illegal. They're trained to be cutthroat scumbags. Don't fall for their crap. Bottom line is get your story straight and stick with it. Don't let them intimidate you into an unnecessary confession!
It's best to not get lit up in the first place. Always be careful when picking up or dropping off a lady. Don't attract the attention of the pigs.
