There is also an increased LE presence in this area near the top of the hill as you describe, Alan. About a month ago LE presence in that area was desolate. Last week I saw Jolene (from Kings Row Update series) getting busted near the methadone clinic. LE had all of her belongings strung across the sidewalk. I wouldn't be surprised to see a sting operation in that area sometime soon.

Taxi cab. Her hair wasn't purple. Definitely brunette. I got a good look when I let her out. Was definitely a cute young thing.

For sure I was surprised LE presence was so low when I was out. I paid some extra attention because I couldn't believe how high the activity was. You are probably right that it won't last long.

Admissible or not, I don't know if a prosecutor will go to trial against someone who is factually innocent (given any video that you produced vindicated you) but on the other hand if your video incriminated you, that would be a different issue.

Here was the scene near 82 and Klickitat at about 7:15 or so tonight (8/29). The black and white photos were from 8/3; you can tell this is the same person by carefully comparing the purse in both photos. What I was amazed at was at the rate this woman (whom I am hereby nicknaming "Hermiston Melons" from this point forward) is growing her hair. At first I thought this was a really nefarious wig she was wearing; but I have been known to be wrong from time to time. Upon further inspection I have arrived at the theory that Hermiston Melons is obviously suffering from ultra high levels of estrogen (meaning she's pregnant).

The NW was quite a stroll up until a year or so ago. It appears lately to have met the same fate as MLK and perhaps most of Sandy Blvd to my surprise; but on occasion you run into an occasional hold out trying to take advantage of the desolate conditions. But when I do pick up a passenger in those parts the girls complain at the lack of taxis in the area; having to wait for over an hour at times, creating perhaps a 'chicken or the egg' argument.

Just as a reminder, rent is due on the 1st and late on the 5th. Due to this equation, we see many new faces on the strolls and less taxi drivers with a spendable bank roll; alas, quadruple the SW traffic. Clearly the phenomenon pictured here is the "Darwinian Effect of Avid Streetwalking".

We spend a lot time and money chasing it. They spend what we pay rarely on rent or food. On our part, the game may not be a total addiction, just an occasional pastime, an itch that needs to be scratched. Sometimes not. In my youth I would say I had no self control. I try to be realistic about the philosophy / morality of this pastime. I've met women of all stripes out there. An accountant, a nurse, professionals, people who by the roll of dice happen to be addicts. Way back I used to run into women who just liked the thrill of doing this, sex addicts. I wouldn't make a move though unless she had a stiff piece of cardboard and the ink was freshly put on the sign. I once saw a very attractive woman on the east side with a sign that said, "Husband just left – a kid at home – no job – help!" I came 'this close' to inviting her to live with me. This was the scene at NE Hassalo and 82 at about 7:50 this evening. I have very few rules; but one of my pet peeves is when a potential passenger is attempting to hail a cab with a shitload of open food in their arms. Can you imagine the mess all this chow would make in your vehicle?

This may look bad, but I've seen much worse. A few weeks ago I saw a working girl walking near Fremont with a carry-on rolling Samsonite suitcase, backpack, duffel bag, and a gallon jug of chocolate milk. This was the scene yesterday (9/16) between 5:30 and 6:20 at 82 and Knapp; this photo series encompassed a time lapse of about an hour. During this time she never went further north than the Asian Store, not further south than Knapp Street. Due to the lack of progressive travel, I was awaiting some sort of undercover activity but no soul tried to pick up this potential passenger. I couldn't tell if there was an undercover officer observing from the white SUV in the background, unrelated, or if that vehicle is always just parked there. Sort of a strange scene; however, with the shooting investigation afoot at the Plaid Panties, I doubt the resources existed to run a sting simultaneously. This potential passenger certainly gave all the body language indicating that she was trying to hail a cab.

On a side note, I was out in this same area about 4 nights ago and saw what looked like a 80-90 year old woman working the streets near the Checkered Flag Bar on Flavel. Geeez! Seriously? It was way too dark outside for a good photo and even if I could successfully shoot a good photo; I don't have the heart.

Normally I have seen her on 82 between the 7-11 (on Powell) and Division. However, lately she hangs out near the oriental strip mall around the corner.

As I am driving. I am always looking for prospective ladies. Well at the freeway intersection was a sign flying girl. My god. She was hot. Skinny and very good looking. She was there after dark also. This woman is dangerous and I recently personally realized she is back in Portland, but I have seen her the last half dozen times that I have been out, especially late at night; but have ignored her not knowing who she was exactly. The times that I have seen this woman she has been hanging out at the bus stops immediately north and south of the Econolodge on 82 and Holgate. I have also seen her sitting at the bus stop where the Dunkin Doughnuts used to be across from FM.

This is the woman who goes into a rap right before the normal commencement of the "date" that usually starts with,"There's one other thing; have you ever been arrested before?" She then claims that she is working for some sort of 'auxiliary community policing patrol' with a 3 letter acronym (like CPS).

She has a rather large ugly herpe looking thing on her lower lip closest to you while you are driving. She claims that she was bit during a date [she states that she used to be a real prostitute] and that injury inspired her to become an undercover police officer. She goes on to say (now outside the vehicle) that she is working with an officer [She is not. But in reality there is a nearby pimp] and that if you leave the scene, she will give a signal which will trigger a flash mob of undercover agents to swarm the vehicle. In the past she claims that she is wearing a wire / recording device.

I have read other reports about this woman, some have stated that she accompanies them to a drive-up ATM and makes the driver withdraw the daily limit. Other girls (10+ years ago) stated that she runs with a big black pimp and the pimp has been known to attack the would be john.

This woman is a scam!

Here is what you need to know:

1) Very recognizable herpe type sore on her lower lip. You will notice it.

2) Does normal "cop checks" and is very aggressive with the cop check, insisting the john prove not a cop; sometimes more than once.

3) Says she is 38 years old.

4) Claims to be working with an undercover police.

5) When she launches into her rap, her pimp is nearby.

6) Claims that she has some sort of signal to summon the police.

7) States that the injury on her lip was sustained during a real date long ago with a john.

8) States that the injury inspired her to join 'auxiliary community policing patrol'.

9) Sometimes claims that she gets some sort of dollar amount per successful bust; but is willing to negotiate with the john if he can beat the dollar amount.

10) See photo. Hair is a lighter shade of blonde now. She probably put on 25-50 pounds.

11) Typically hangs out near 82 and Holgate at benched bus stops.

Taxi Cab is exactly right. I ran into cut lip many years ago and it went exactly as he described.

Being forewarned is good. At the time I was in shock and did not think clearing.

Just to add something here. When she gets out of the car she stands in front of the open door so it is very difficult to back up and pull away. If you happen to pick her up I would park in a place where you could drive away even if your door is open.

I was out last night for several hours and LE was all over the place.

I saw them all up and down 82nd. Besides all the marked cars there was a dark blue unmarked car.

What is funny about the whole thing is that the whole thing was so fake. They had film crews with them. I saw three cars detain a girl in a parking lot near Flavel. I saw at least two film crews filming what was going on. They were pulling people all over the place. It was crazy. Almost all the girls were off the streets because the activity was at a level I have never seen in any city I have been to. I have seen stings and a higher level of LE presence but never anything like this.

I am assuming there is a COPS Portland episode in the works and it will be out in several months after editing.

I had a friend that was a deputy in a local city. He told me when the COPS guys come to town the ride around constantly saying lets get something going; let's make something happen. He refused to ride with them because it was not what happens in a normal night but they are looking to pull people over on any little thing and arrest as many people as possible and MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN.

Above was the scene this morning (9/23) at about 9am at 82 and Fremont.

I have heard of double chins and double jointed, but have you ever seen someone with two elbows on each arm? With two elbows you can multi-task and accomplish much more in less time compared to someone who is limited to just one elbow.

This is a true story; on Monday and Thursday mornings right around 2 am, you can find this woman attempting to pick up johns while riding her red 18-speed bicycle between Popeye's Chicken and Madison High School. Upon witnessing this I thought to myself,"What a fantastic way to ho and maintain cardiovascular health at the same time!" It is amazing what one can accomplish with an extra elbow.
