Re: Our little Julie (whacko??)
Having visited Julie many times I know some comments have validity however some personality quirks are explainable; especially to our younger posters.
Little Julie is from Saigon and is not a spring chicken. She's never confided her exact age to me but comforts me when I tell her my age. I'd peg her age at about 50 years old. That would put her age during the Vietnam War years as that of a teenager.
For those who weren't alive during the 1960's and early 70's quite a bit of atrocities occurred during the War.
On the American side, bad behavior included ...
*the Mei Ly massacre of Lt Calley fame might have been the worst, where US soldiers machine-gunned a whole village
*American soldiers frequently patronized the black market of Saigon for drugs and prostitutes (often for about $5 a pop)
- many Viet gals were impregnated by American GI's; the child wound up looking very un-Vietnamese like
** unwanted if White/Anglo & Viet mother
** very unwanted if Black/Afro & Viet mother
* many native Vietnamese sided with the USA troop presence in South Vietnam only to later be abandoned by the USA & having to deal with paybacks from the Viet Cong/North Vietnamese
- especially in the early 70's when USA did a total troop pullout,
the local Viets frantically tried to attach themselves to departing helicoptors and ships for fear of reprisals
On the NORTH Vietnamese side those guys were murderers and rapists to those among them who betrayed the 1 united Vietnam cause and sided with the USA (sorta like the French felt after WWII when learning which countrymen collaborated with the Nazi's??).
At any rate I have never been able to engage Julie while conversing ...
I have never been able to get her to open up as to what she was exposed to during the War (but I bet it was tragic ... either to herself or to family members).
Most of us Americans who have never experienced war have lived a rather sheltered life.
Julie experienced at least 10+ years of big time War and we may never know what tradegies occurred that have left psychological scars on her mindset for life.
I know her personality quirks bring ridicule to some but underneath there is probably a very tragic, sad story. Partly perpetrated by the USA older generation.
Let's show some compassion!!
About Julie- Lucky I got out of there after the handy
QUOTE=Herb Surfs]Okay, my 2 cents on Julie.
Everyone here is making her out to be the HJ-Nazi....."No handy for you!!!!"
She is nothing to look at for sure, she gives an average massage, after the handy she breaks your legs and back by stretching you like Gumby.
She can actually be personable. I've had several good conversations with her and she was nice.
If you can stand her massage closet, er...room then she's not all that bad for $30.00 an hour. And no tip required.
IMHO.[/QUOTE]
Guess in that case I got out of there right after the handy and avoided the streching. Ordered me to lie on my stomach for 1/2 hour and then says turn over. Quick handy, hard for me to concentrate too. Anyway right after I say I have to go, she's ordering me lie down. Insist I have to go and she gives me another 10 back because it was only half an hour. Only thing good there was the price.
