If you don't have it, it is like a separate Firefox that exists in a desktop file folder. It bounces you through 4 random countries so as long as the last country is not the US you can log in. (It took me 2 tries and if it fails you just click assign new identity). I use it whenever a website is USA blocked or won't open because of pop ups.

TOR has too much risks from the dark web.

I came away thinking TOR is basically a slightly slower 100% free VPN (VPN's all seem to cost about $3-8 a month). I did learn about the hidden "dark web" sites you can access within TOR but I've never knowingly used it for that and don't see any dangers unless you go to them. I've always used it only to change my IP for USA blocked sites at most a couple times a month with zero problems over the years.
