I like to try out new places, I enjoy the thrill of the hunt and get bored of places that are a "sure thing". I find it more exciting getting something somewhere I was not expecting it. But maybe you're right, they could've been spooked by a combination of the recent bust, you coming in late, you saying you haven't been there before, and whatever your "Uncle LEO checks" were. I would give it a second chance, and next time say you've been there before (which, at that point, you have), just be chill, no LE talk.

That notion's leaked into many mongers' view of the world, too. The idea being, if you do those things to each other before money is exchanged, it guarantees neither of you is LEO.

First, if the girl doesn't know about those so-called checks, grabbing body parts right off the bat can come across as creepy and pushy. Second, they are useless. While many department policies say cops should not be doing those things, they get a lot of latitude from the courts for doing what would otherwise be illegal when they are undercover.

Second, they'll just lie about it if they feel like they need to to make a bust stick. My advice is just don't.
