What universe do you live in? The AMP girls you see on your weekly visit are not union workers. They are certainly not salaried employees and are not paid an hourly wage. They are often not even legal immigrants who came here on their own or with parents to partake in the great opportunities this country has (make that had) to offer. They get no benefits, none whatsoever. And they don't set the rates. The owner of the establishment does.
These are women who are at the end of their ropes, so to speak. They are sometimes (but not often) women who came here as the wife of an American or even of another Korean and wound up being abused and left the marriage out of desperation. If you encounter one who has no accent, she may be a girl who was adopted by an American family and wound up being physically and sexually abused by a family member.
But more often than not, it will be a woman who paid a shady organization tens of thousands of dollars to sneak her out of Korea, or the Korean part of China (The Yanbian Autonomous Prefecture) , through South Korea, through Turkey, Germany, and Mexico, and then across the Rio Grande at Mexicali or some other border crossing point and into the USA She was then taken by bus or car up through Texas, California, or Arizona and to some shit hole in Flushing, New York where she was fed and housed until she could learn a bit of English and find a job in an AMP in New Jersey, Maryland, South Carolina, Alaska, or wherever an AMP owner was willing to give her a job.
And since the woman who gives you a nice shower, good or bad massage, plays with your dick or sucks you off or fucks you may have little or no education which she can use to find a better job (a job with the protections, salary, and benefits which you most likely enjoy) , and since, in any case, she may lack a green card, social security number, or indeed any documentation, she is at the mercy of the AMP owner as well as the customer. Yes, she is paid. She is paid by you. She is not paid by the AMP owner. In fact, it's the other way around. She may get to keep some of the tip. But she must give part of it to the owner in exchange for the privilege of working there. She must also kick in $20 or more per day for her meals and for the kitchen mama who cooks them.
They work because whoever fronted the money for them to come here from China or Korea is often holding the girl's family hostage until the debt is paid off. If it's not paid, the girls parents, siblings, or even her children, will be maimed or even killed.
The next time you hear or read something about "trafficking", keep in mind that most reporters, and often even the government, either don't understand or won't tell you the whole truth about trafficking. Most likely, the girls who are trafficked were not abducted off of the streets of Thailand, Vietnam, China, or wherever they came from. They went willingly because they had no other choices left to them in life. They came here to keep their families from starving or being worked to death in some factory which made your iPhone, iPod, shoes, jeans, baseball cap, or coffee cup. Or they came here in order to give their kids an education. Sometimes they came here because they are under a death sentence due to an illness such as hepatitis, HIV, or even cancer, and are prevented from working as a slave laborer in their home country.
You can choose to be a prick for the rest of your life if you wish. You can choose to profess ignorance or even to BE ignorant. That's up to you.
Am I saying not to patronize AMPs? No. Not at all. I go and I enjoy the services which I receive there. But I have a better time than you do because I understand where the girls come from, what sorts of lives they lead, and what alternatives are available to them. I treat them like human beings and they appreciate it and, if only for an hour or so, we connect as human beings. And I don't have ridiculous, uninformed opinions like you do. I get to know them and try to help them if I can. You only pass through this fucking world once Satya. If you don't make an attempt at being human on this trip, there will be no other opportunities.
And lastly, I have yet to meet an AMP girl who gets a week off per month. You're as full of shit as a Christmas Turkey.

The Poor Little Providers
I can't speak for the Chinese AMP workers, but I've known hundreds of Korean providers over two decades, both in and out of the AMPs and in every sense of the word. Few love their work, but most drive BMWs and earn 6 figure incomes. One girl I knew in particular, we'll call her Angie, put her money in real estate and now owns half of Carol Co. She's retired, but back in the day I considered her to be a good friend.
So spare me your liberal bleeding hearts. Many of those women are worth more than you are!
