They'll ask whatever they think they'll get from their prospective johns. If they think they'll get 300 from one dude and 1 K from another, they'll do it in a heartbeat! The majority of SBs don't do this for a living, nor work for an agency, nor think of themselves as hookers (even though they technically are the latter).
As such, you can't really hold it against them. You yourself must determine if the "juice is worth the squeeze. " Make your own personal determination of whether or not a woman's asking price is worth it. If you have doubts about whether you can afford it, or doubt that the woman will deliver as advertised, then you ought to stand your ground. Don't pony up a single cent over what you originally intended to spend. Remember, they're the ones selling a product. So don't give them any more power than they've already got (which in this region is substantial enough, unfortunately).
