Assuming you know how to spot SWs who are working, here are some patterns to follow that will help keep your profile low.

1) When you are ready to attempt a pickup, don't make any sudden, illegal, or big moves to reach your target. Don't bust a U-turn (illegal city-wide unless indicated). Don't make a sudden stop and then back up. Don't turn around in an exposed driveway or parking lot. You want to blend into normal traffic, which normally does not do any of these things.

2) Try to only pickup on the side streets, if possible. This keeps your chances of being spotted from a distance down. In this same maneuver, do your best to position yourself in your target's path. And if possible, try to put your car in park or neutral, so that your brake lights are not illuminated. This looks much more natural.

Some guys keep their car in showroom condition, others never clean them. However it's a good idea to keep some shop towels or low quality car towels on board. You can use these to wipe up any "liquids", then toss them in the trash without concerning yourself with cost or laundry.
