My solution for provider communication is keeping a lock code on my real cell, not allowing messages to display on the lock screen, and using a cheap burner phone for provider communication as much as possible. I keep the burner phone off 80% of the time and keep the ringer all the way off. I store it in a large messenger bag along with several other tablets and gadgets and if ever found its password protected and its my "backup phone for work". Which of course contains sensitive information I can't disclose. I find that confidentially acting as though things are how they are because they are supposed to be that way has served me well for a long time. Making up stuff gives you too much to keep track of and trip over.
Something else I have learned in my hobby years is to only lie when you absolutely have to. It's easier to just omit some things and tell as much of the truth as you can get away with.
For instance, when you are going somewhere to see a provider, tell her you have to go somewhere very close by the location where the provider is working for some other reason. That way if you get in a car wreck or your car breaks down, you have a reason for being in that area. It's hard to explain how you had an accident in Charleston when you told her you were going to Florence. And as you said, never leave a phone that may contain sensitive data lying around that is wide open to anyone that gets curious. If you can't lock it then get one that you can. If she asks why it's locked, tell her it's to prevent butt dialing people.
