Forty-seven-year-old Nathaniel Pope and 45-year-old Catherine Pflug were charged in a federal complaint Wednesday with interstate transportation of an individual for prostitution.

Prosecutors say the pair arrived Sunday in Rhode Island, rented a hotel room in Warwick and solicited a customer for a paid sex act with a woman who had accompanied them from Indiana.

They were arrested Wednesday in Connecticut on an outstanding federal warrant.

A lawyer for Pflug did not immediately return a call seeking comment. A phone message left after hours for Pope's court-appointed lawyer was not returned. Both were ordered detained Wednesday.

Indoor prostitution had been legal in Rhode Island until state lawmakers this year closed a legal loophole.
