Of course, until you establish a solid track record of good intel and recons, you're not likely to get many specific bits of info. I got a PM asking for detailed information on one of our favorite Chinese restaurants. I didn't recognize the name so I checked his posting history. One post in February of 2006 and five in 2005, only two of which contained any useful information.

As far as I'm concerned he's an unproven newbie, and I'm highly unlikely to share any specifics.

In case some of you newbies have missed the discussions in the past, the only coin we deal with on this board is information. And that information has significant value to us. We have spent considerable time, and money, to acquire that information. We share it to help one another. We also safeguard it to ensure that it isn't used against providers by LEO, or politicians, or the media, who seem to pop up here from time to time and immediately start asking for specifics, or post one or two uninformative postings, and then ask for specifics with the intent of using the information to harm us, the providers, and our ability to conduct our hobby quietly.

There is a lot of information on this board. Many newbies have managed to find their way around this hobby over the years by reading the board and using their brains. This isn't rocket science. If you RTFF, (If you don't understand what it means go to the top of the page and click on Abbreviations,) and pay attention, you can figure most of it out without too much trouble. Then go and get some experience and report on it. If your reports ring true, and believe me, there's enough of us who have been there, done that, then you'll win some trust and respect, and you'll find that we'll happily share information with you. If you try to blow a lot of smoke we'll know that too. And if your reports don't come anywhere close to our collective experience, we'll all know that the bacon is in the frying pan. And then you'll NEVER get squat.

So it's really up to you. Do your homework. RTFF, Report on your experience, and you'll become a member of the club. Come in here with no record and say "Tell me everything," and we'll be quick to tell you where to go. Your choice.
