Simple prostitution is in the jurisdiction of local law enforcement. Trafficking, however, is in the jurisdiction of the F. B. I. And other larger law enforcement agencies. Pretending to be investigating for sex trafficking allows for the use of the multiple agencies with more man-power and funding. It also makes the guys that are caught in the sting look like they were involved in something far worse than they actually were. It's a fuckin' joke.

Many of the sites had the free speech angle to allow people to post but with the new definitions they consider that to be aiding or involved with human trafficking. It is like the seat belt laws, they say it is about saving lives, when it is all about making money.
