I don't want this to appear that I in any way am picking at this post. There is good advice here. I just disagree with the premise. That said, we could probably get some great thoughts going on the subject. Here are mine.

I learned all the way back in high school that getting a girl a little bit drunk can make for some more fun. C3 captures my reasoning behind drinking with a lady perfectly. I will only have one or two shots (usually one and a beer) which for me is enough to loosen up but still be sharp and able to act / perform as needed. I think it also helps the lady know that you are not LEO as I don't think they will drink on the job. Just walk in, greet each other, then ask if they want to do a shot with you. Bring your own, the airline bottles work great for this. Some ladies will decline, others will accept. At any rate, also to C3's point, it helps the lady relax and we end up with a more enjoyable experience USUALLY.

In my particular case with Marina, I should have had my shots on the way in since she had been drinking already.
