"A massage establishment must maintain a complete set of legible records in English or Spanish, which must include the date, time, and type of service or treatment provided; the full legal name of the employee who provided the service or treatment; and the full legal name, home address, and telephone number of the client or patient."
"A copy of the client's or patient's photo identification may be used to provide the full legal name and home address of the client or patient."
Time will tell if this law is accompanied by state-funded raids & inspections for the purpose of Grady-like photo-ops.
Ok, well this really bummed me out after I researched it. Maybe being on the younger side I'm not aware of laws they've past previously regarding this, but is this something that anyone is worried about? First time seeing anything like this, someone please give me good news. I enjoy a regular escape.
Manatee county, Fla. (WWSB) - The Manatee County Sheriff's Office arrested a woman after receiving a tip that her business was being used as front for several illegal operations, including human trafficking.
Karen McGlynn has been arrested and charged with racketeering. She's the owner of Latin Relaxation on Cortez Road. The investigation began after a 2021 tip to law enforcement.
That arrest came after a year and a half of investigation. According to arrest records, deputies say that searches of McGlynn's electronic devices reveal that she was posting to adult themed sites. She also owns two other "illicit" spas in the Tampa Bay area. Electronic devices show McGlynn talking about sexual activity and detectives say patrons of these establishments admitted to paying $220 for these acts.
There is currently a joint investigation between the Manatee County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in regards to the allegations of trafficking.
They deserved to be shut down and arrested if Human Trafficking was taking place.
Actual human trafficking is really rare. Florida politicians have been lumping simple prostitution into the human trafficking laws constantly in the last few years. I have been actively seeking fun for play for 35 years, and have not come across anyone that is being forced or trafficked. AFAIK, the only documented cases recently are relatively closed rings of mostly Hispanic groups engaging in this, again, pretty rare and having nothing to do with any simple prostitution.

ITs real, and this person has told me all they do, and that yes, this area does have a lot, along with Georgia. Its not just sexual trafficking, but human and labor trafficking too.

I'm sure it's a problem but no way 1 in 300 people in this country are trafficked in the way most people think of as trafficking. These groups inflate stats to get headlines and funding. It's a problem of course.
