It isn't that hard nowadays. Many people, myself included, have many first cousins. If just one of those cousins is in a DNA database, that person can be reached out to and may help someone find the real father. People naturally want to help others in situations like this, so it's not far-stretched to believe cousins will provide names of other cousins with a focus of those in a particular geographic area. Once names of other first cousins are provided, it is just a matter of finding those names on social media / the net. But with names alone legal maneuvers can be made to prove paternity.

Aside from all that, I for one would feel bad if I have a kid out there that does not have me as a dad in their life.
