As a general rule, prices do reelect an equilibrium between supply and demand. This is an oversimplification, but in this case how many providers offer the services mongers wish to have? And how many hours a day can they fill up their schedule at that price? If it is at a higher price, it will obviously go up until the number of mongers willing to pay the next higher amount starts to drop off. But f the providers get enough gents to pay the higher rate, they charge it.
The problem from our perspective is in DC there seem to be enough guys with high enough disposable income to pay the higher freight. It's probably the same in most other big USA Cities, but not areas with lower median incomes like the Southeast (e. G. GA, SC, AL, MS, AR, MO, TX, TN, and maybe rural NC too). Other areas in the Midwest like WV and OH come to mind as well. But not the big coastal cities.
But remember when Greenspan pointed out the "flaw" in the 2008 housing market? Well, there are at least two major flaws in our market, and they are equally ridiculous:
1) Most providers charge the same prevailing rate no matter what services they offer, and.
2) Providers charge the same rates no matter their age, looks, or physical fitness.
However, as long as mongers cough up the dough to see these women at the prevailing wage rate, there is not a whole lot the rest of us can do except vote with our wallets and boycott the high prices.
