I've been lurking here for a long time finally decided to post after seeing something on another thread that caught my interest. Last week I ran down 82nd and noticed peachycreams was out walking. With list in hand & 40+ lbs of rotor in my knapsack copilot & I hiked over that way. Since new pair of rotors was only forty bucks more than machining old ones & in stock. Took the hit keeping my Outward Bound type of pack weight treks to a minimum. Back still fucking groaned some...Got it back together but had an issue with my ancient pressure bleeder. Gave up for the night...
Bleeder pot seal replaced & all four wheels on the ground Wednesday just before Merry called that she was packed & ready. A test drive for some ice & supplies for the journey...
Day One:
Headed out Thursday at 6:00 +- & were crossing the Ross Island when Merry let out a "damn it". Day Two:
Since both my friends & us weren't too interested in the Friday's festival lineup we skipped Fridays first day of music. They went about their respective day while we wandered around Santa Cruz & met later on Pacific Avenue where Merry treated us to Mexican & margaritas. Somewhat chilly day...
Day Three:
The four of us + two copilots parked at an old friends of mines a mile or two from Golden Gate Park around noon Saturday & walked over. While not as warm as previous times I've been to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, still comfortable & unlike the Santa Cruz boardwalk dog friendly (found that out the semi hard way). For those not familiar with this festival despite its moniker it's somewhat genre agnostic & free in Golden Gate Park. Where else but San Francisco can you see the spirit of the sixties living on...
Caught a few I'd never seen such as Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams & the Bonny Light Horseman. Saw some of Jerry Harrison & Adrian Belew set before Elvis Costello & The Great American Beauties. They barn burned out mostly a set of covers including the Grateful Dead, Neil Young, Brinsley Swartz (serious bonus musical points if you have even heard of latter) along with a few of his own tunes. With (What's so Funny 'about) Peace Love & Understanding echoing in our heads, closed the day out with Steve Earle & The Dukes as the sun set between the trees...
Day Four:
After a Sunday morning blowjob that was as much performance art as sex act that left me grinning stupidly all day. More of the same on Sunday as we caught a tribute to some artist lost these last couple years. Day Five:
With our gracious hosts returning to work Monday, Merry & I left the copilot at their place to head the hour+ drive to Monterey to see the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I'd been there once in '85+- soon after it opened yet Merry had never been. Expensive admission yet another expense Merry sprung for. We grilled some of my springer for our hosts that evening before retiring somewhat early.
Day Six:
Since we'd taken I-5 down we decided to take the coastal route home Tuesday with some delay in my old bay area stomping grounds to satisfy Merry's curiosity about my thoroughly nontraditional weird upbringing. Seemed normal to me@ time LOL. Lunch & some Chinese takeout from my GOAT Chinese restaurant in Los Altos. Over the GG bridge we aimed...
