There are always risks in life. I try to minimize them without living in fear.
Percentage wise it is pretty low risk. Odds of dying in a car crash or of a heart attack are much greater.

When I first became involved in this hobby, I thought I knew everything there was to know about STD's. The longer I have been mongering, the dumber I am getting. This past year, my main issue has been cold sores. I love BBBJCIM. Earlier this year I was seeing a provider who had special talents in this area. It can also be shed during times when the sores are gone. Just from the skin cells that had the virus!

However my point would be that if a provider has another STD with HIV your odds go as high a 1:12 chances of catching both at the same time because the HIV virus hangs with the other STD and in an amount 5 times the normal viral cell load. The other interesting fact that is not yet widely known is that the HIV virus can infect someone such as the urethra in men or the uterus in women and hang out in those tissue cells for some time (up to a year) before entering into the blood stream and causing system wide HIV infection which is only then detectable by HIV tests during / after seroconversion. Be smart and safe!
