A member wrote me and asked me to remove a review he had made of a provider because her management didn't like it. He said that the manager had threatened him with physical violence and was pleading with me to remove it.
I refused, I refused because douchebags like that can only flourish in the dark and if he was successful in intimidating this member then it made it more likely that he would try it with others.
You guys all saw who the chick was, you saw who the member was, so now you can make an informed decision, do you want to involve yourself in that sort of thing or not.
I'm not saying do it, I'm not saying don't. I'm reporting what happened from my side as information only.

By A2. I had a provider ask me to remove a review once. Can't do it. They know what they were getting into, and besides that, it was a positive review.
And Sara. The only marathon I'm running into is a gas station. Still, that made me laugh as most of us want our cake and to eat it too. And many of us look like we've eaten a lot of cake.

Some may ask you to not review them and some don't know whether or not to ask. I don't understand why someone wouldn't want a good review, unless of course they asked you not to review them. It really comes down to some sense of being a gentleman or not. I'm not indicating in any way you weren't. Everyone just needs to use some common sense.

There seems to be a lack of etiquette with some on the board in regards to giving out help / references and promoting providers.
There are some providers on the board that are willing to help but:
1. If you don't know them then how can you reference someone to contact them?
2. Even if you know them did you ask them if they were willing, before you gave someone their name and contact info?
3. If you pretend to know them and just hand out info randomly then you just might be blocked by them and those that they know. This would be due to the lack of consideration you have shown towards them.
Use your head and ask first, if you don't know them then leave it be. How would you like it if someone just started handing out your info without your consent?
It's great to write reviews about new providers who have excellent service. Just keep in mind that they are new, you probably don't know them that well or what my be hidden in their past or present. Just because you fucked them and then sat around and think you delved into each others souls, doesn't mean they are safe. It takes some time for a new provider to develop a reputation of consistently good, reliable and safe service. There are diamonds in the rough out there, but some of those diamonds are really cubic zirconia. Also if you think you have established a certain bond with a provider and conversation turns personal then it needs to remain personal. Would you like it if someone revealed personal information about you to others without your permission? It works both ways, so once again use common sense.
There are many new senior members on this board, welcome to all. Just remember that one in every ten of you are closet pricks! The other nine are gentlemen and treat mongers and providers with respect. The pricks always come out in some form or another. I'm not talking about the occasional prick, we all have that issue from time to time. It's the prick with the constant hard on that really becomes an issue to everyone's safety and enjoyment of the hobby. So if you can't show at least some common sense, etiquette, rational thought and common decency, well then your a prick!

It is also a safe general practice to limit the amount of personal info that you share until you have reached your personal comfort level. Just as mongers get more comfortable with a provider over time, the same should be said about providers getting comfortable with mongers. It is safe practice not to share too much personal info until you have reached your personal comfort level.
