Have a purpose to where you are going, look forward, but "see" everything around you. Show respect to the natives and by all means NEVER display any FEAR as that will be like blood in the water.
I think that is what OP means when they say the have lived here a long time. I can be done, but you have to adapt to the surroundings.

It's not to say you shouldn't be careful and aware, but, generally, I think it's a pretty safe town. I might have a more aggressive risk tolerance than some because I have lived in some rougher areas when I was younger and poorer, and because I've biked every inch of this city many times over, and feel confident in how well I know it.
That said. It can depend on the time of day as well; nothing good happens after midnight, and there are more drunks around. I think there's a lot more danger towards women (I have a friend who was killed fighting over a purse).

As long as it's close businesses I think I'll be ok. That sounds like the type of place I'm looking for.

HP.[/QUOTE]I've been, I don't believe there is a table shower. Some places that don't have a table shower may offer you a stand-up shower (you shower yourself) - I've been offered that before in places that don't offer TS, but not at this place.
Give them a call and inquire. Explain your situation. If they want your business, which they probably do given the new ownership, they should figure out some way to accommodate you.
