In my opinion you pay for it one way or another. It's kinda like used car sales. Either you pay more on the front end or more on the back end. I'm a single (divorced many years) businessman with a hefty work schedule who doesn't always have time for dating. When I do go out on dates, it seems like I drop a Benjamin each time give or take a little. With no promise of anything. Dating becomes expensive, time-consuming, and then you get lucky and maybe have to deal with an attachment you don't want just so you can get regular play. At least with these girls, you have a guarantee where your money is being spent.
Granted I can do the occasional bar pick up that costs nothing (I'm not an unattractive guy). But when I want what I want, why not just be straight forward and go for what you want, focussing the budget on that? It seems a few think that by paying is the only way much of us get any play. After my second divorce my ultra-conservative father told me he did a financial calculation looking at what it cost me and stated that I would have been far better off and more financially ahead had I flown to L. I got laid fairly regularly in my youth from who I thought were very attractive girls. I also passed on opportunities to screw some girls because I wasn't attracted to them.
