PrEP is absolutely not given to sexual assault victims or people who have already had risky sex, PEP is the protocol. It's literally indicated in the name:

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis.

Post-Exposure Prophylaxis.

It is recommended to take PrEP a minimum 2 hours before sexual contact, and I've only seen mention of the efficacy for receptive anal sex. If you have other sources I'm genuinely interested to read more, but as I understand it PrEP is ineffective post exposure.

PEP on the other hand is the suitable treatment post exposure. It does include the same tablet as PrEP (tenofovir disoproxil / emtricitabine), but doctors will also prescribe an antiretroviral, usually raltegravir in combination.
