How does LinkedIn know what I am doing in order to send noticed to connections? My regular LinkedIn account only posts new jobs, anniversaries, and other posts that I enter?

I don't give anyone in the hobby my real name and I do everything I can to keep my identity concealed. But sometimes, my best efforts aren't good enough. I once encountered a provider in public. I don't think she's active anymore. I don't want to say who it was or what the situation was. I acted like I didn't know who she was, but I'm certain she recognized me. If she put some effort into it, she could find out my name. I'm thinking (hoping) that since nothing has happened by now, then I'm in the clear. It's a good illustration of how you can follow all the suggestions here for staying safe and yet pure dumb luck can potentially bite you in the butt anyway. Stay safe my friends.

Our eyes crossed a couple of times, then later while I was talking with a couple of friends she came up and gave me a hug like an old friend. I was able to play it off, however I didn't enjoy the attention. Imagine if one of my friends, happened to be another of her clients. That would have given us something to talk about! LOL Not in a good way, I like to keep the hobby quiet.

" It was totally inappropriate and a good thing I use a "burner email. " LinkedIn is like facebook and it will display a "Do you know "JESSE" to all of you contacts. So all of a sudden all her YOUR contacts and especially those who are YOU contacts and ones she emailed become a community.
I once ran across a provider while playing indoor soccer, just so happens her baby daddy was on the other team! Quite a shock, it had been some time since I had seen her and didn't even know about the kid. No problems at the time, we both hid our surprise.

I have a separate work email & work LinkedIn account. How did she send me a LinkedIn request to an email not tied to LinkedIn?
Silk did the stand up thing and reached out to me and gave me permission to clear this up. She was giving LinkedIn a try and said it pulled all her Yahoo and Gmail contacts without her knowledge and she apologized for any inconvenience or harm.
She also has deleted her LinkedIn account.
I can't believe anyone involved in the hobby would be signed up on any social networking accounts, and / or access any hobby related mail with a computer they use for legitimate activities if they have even the smallest problem with being outed. The way all these programs link together and use bots and what have you to gather information to share between themselves and disseminate to who knows who its amazing they don't post your underwear and sock size on all your friends facebook pages. I personally refuse to even enter any of those sites for any reason, the risk to my privacy is way over the top, even though I don't give a rat's ass who knows what I do.

Once I was at the breakfast Bar, we had already made eye contact, both realized, I thought no biggy, the French toast was gone an I have a favorite waitress so as it was put down fresh my waitress flagged me over, I asked my daughter if she needed a refill she said no and I turn to go to the bar, as I turned I noticed his eyes wide an he started swaying his eyes side to side like saying NOOOOO! I just smiled an kept walking, guess he thought I was coming his way in order to approach him? No sweety, just getting the French toast! LOL, I'd never approach a client outside of the session, but seeing them in public is just so historical. Relax guys! I just want the toast! :-the.

I do think it would be foolish to use a real email here. But when I got my invite from miss silk, I just set up a linkedin account that reflected my pseudonymous user name here.
If she deleted her's, there is no point keeping mine now.
I was pretty shocked how many real-looking accounts connected to her.
