It's not common practice, at least in my experience but girls like that do surface once in a while.
Some providers and their handlers are just pathetic businessmen who don't realize they'll make a lot more money off of you if they make you happy enough to return again and again but instead choose to make a quick buck and rip people off.

Arlington police are praising the proactive staff at Hawthorn Suites for helping investigators break up a prostitution operation being run out of a hotel room last week.

Police arrested XXXXXXXXX, 26, XXXXXXXXX., Terre Haute, Ind., Ladonna P. Davis, 21, 10934 Snowdrop Way, Indianapolis, Ind., and XXXXXXXXXXXX, 17, XXXXXXXXXXX., Indianapolis, Ind., and charged them with prostitution.

Hawthorn Suites General Manager John Perez said staff became suspicious of the three when they arrived at the hotel with two men. Staff noticed a lot of activity in and out of the room, and observed the young women were hanging out in the lobby.

Knowing that Craig's List has been an online site that features prostitutes, staff checked the site and found a nude photo of the guest who signed in. Hawthorn Suites contacted her via phone to verify her intentions, and she allegedly told the caller about her services and that she was staying at the hotel.

At that point, Perez called police Officer Michael Hogan, who regularly patrols East Arlington. Perez told Hogan about the alleged prostitutes and Hogan forwarded the information to detectives.

Police searched Craig's List and found ads for all three females in various stages of undress. An undercover officer called the phone number and spoke to Bouey to set up a meeting at Hawthorn Suites last Tuesday night, while investigators were staked out in a nearby room.

The undercover officer reportedly met Kelly in the room, and she told him about her services. When she took the money from the officer, the other nearby investigators converged on the room. They arrested Kelly and recovered a laptop computer that was reportedly used in the prostitution business.

Detectives also found Bouey in a nearby stairwell. She told officers she did nothing wrong because she was merely setting up the meetings.

While police were arresting Kelly and Bouey, other officers approached a vehicle in the hotel's parking lot after officers noticed a man acting suspiciously. When they approached the vehicle, the man attempted to cover himself. Officers also found Davis wearing only boxers and a T-shirt with a pair of sweatpants in her lap.

Police arrested the three females, but did not arrest the man in the car. Police will summons him to court for paying for sex.

This is not the first time that a prostitution ring has been thwarted at Hawthorn Suites. In March 2005, police arrested two adults and two juveniles who were operating a prostitution ring. The alleged ringleader of the crew, Earl J. Brown, of Hyde Park, was sentenced to two to three years in state prison and another two years in a federal facility last month.

Perez said prostitution is something every hotel, no matter its stature, has to battle.

"We don't want this. We don't welcome this. It happens everywhere. I have not been at a hotel that it hasn't happened. We have to nip it in the bud," he said.

Police Chief Fred Ryan said investigators are reviewing the seized computer and other records. Ryan added police are investigating the females' backgrounds

I want to emphasize and congratulate the management at Hawthorn Suites," said Ryan about the staff's willingness to inform the police of the illegal activity. "It does concern us that these young ladies were able to set up shop and quickly establish a very profitable business ... We're happy that we could quickly close the case and put them out of business."

Perez said his hotel has zero tolerance for illegal activity. The hotel caters to corporate travel with rates as much as $200 a night. As a way to deter unsavory guests, the hotel also demands $75 on top of the room rate for guests paying cash.

Perez is hopeful that those involved in prostitution will view Hawthorn Suites' actions and stay away from Arlington's only hotel.

"Hopefully, this will show whoever comes to the hotel that we will not tolerate it ... We will run to the police every time," Perez said of suspicious activity.
