One trend that I've noticed on The Rock is anytime I see a decent looker in nice clothes, like a nice dress or anything "strong" for that area, doing her stroll I'm guaranteed to see 1 or 2 PeeDees in the shadows a few driveways down.
They, the PeeDees, have been all over that area a lot lately. Story is sales tax hike will get more of them on the streets. I wonder why they don't just reassign all the ones on monger duty.
Sunday Afternoon (7/17) see bsw with a pimp and I rated her a 5. 3 AM in the morning, see another bsw look pretty good; however I was drunk and I was staying near the strip so she stopped and gave me the look but I moved on.
Over by the Ice Palace, whatever club that is, the bus stop in front always seems to have something sitting there during club hours. Usually a BMA loitering close-by but bus after bus passes.
On Charleston by Bruce there's a "Mexican club" (used to be Casa Tequila for the Vegas vets) that always seems to have a gaggle of tight-assed youngins crossing towards Del Taco an hanging back & forth on the weekend nites.
Wonder if any of them might need some partying dough?

I have one, purchased new in 2003 for a mere $19,300. Bright white, charcoal interior, looks just like an unmarked cop car, but nicer. It's a great car, very powerful, zero to obscene speeding ticket in about 6 seconds, fast enough to embarass the Mexicans in Hondas at the stop lights, big enough for almost any sized guy (as well as exciting front seat activity), drives better at 85 than it does at 55 due to the superb aerodynamics, gets good gas milage, had 4 paid-for options, CD player, keyless entry, full size spare and white sidewalls, which I had turned around to black. EVERYTHING else is standard equipment...and there's a very long list of good stuff. It's a heckuva lot of fun to pop out onto the interstate and see brake lights coming on all over the place. Actually, not a good car to pursue the hobby in, since some of the smarter SW's not tweaking make it as a cop car...but still, one of the finest vehicles I've ever driven and I've had a lot of different cars, primarily GM. I'd rate it with the best of the 'luxury' sedans, but probably has a significantly better ride.

But I wonder, doesn't the sudden squealing of brake linings nearby tend to cause a personal traffic problem when you really want to get somewhere? Or do they all suddenly merge to the right for you? Maybe you could try telling the SWs you are a social worker. That's what they often think when they see my pasty face cruising around Southcentral LA. In all seriousness, I've often thought it might be worthwhile to pick up something like a '73 Pinto for a couple hundred as a throwaway car just for SW hunting. I think I pay for comprehensive coverage on my real car mostly becuase of the dicey places I go and lunatics I meet pursuing that particular purpose.
Last night I ran into a 28yo BSW named Dashika (or sometimes Emerald depending on her mood this week) on Van Buren a little east of H Street who I've picked up before. She's worthwhile for a 20 to 40 car date, for those who don't mind dodging an occasional stray bullet in the neighborhood.
Do those cars come with a factory option for chromed, door mounted spotlites or is that strictly aftermarket?

Actually, the reactions are sometimes quite fun. People are so courteous...they stop to let me merge into traffic, they wave me out of parking lots into the line of traffic, truckers immediately go to the right lane. They're so nice to me when I drive that car, lot different from when I drive my F150.
Sometimes at traffic lights, people stare. Can't really decide whether that old fat guy is a cop, I guess. Others turn their faces away and stare out the other side of the car until the light turns green. Guess somebody, somewhere knows something about them? Sometimes women look a lot longer than they should. Don't know why on that one. Cops wave when they go by. And no, the "standard" version doesn't come with the spotlights. LOL. I worked at, but not for, Ford for a while. in Detroit area...I can tell you that Ford takes the emergency vehicle business seriously. LE and public sector use of Crown Vics is probably the only reason the cars (also Mercury Grand Marquis) are still made. Last full-size, rear-wheel-drive sedan available as 'police interceptor' anywhere in this hemisphere, maybe the world. Got a trunk big enough to store a VW, or may three or four bodies. Not to mention all those radios and emergency equipment.
Speaking of the hobby, I notice that when the SWs spot me, they get real interested in what's in the shop windows, or they look away, or take off into the parking lot or side street. Then in my mirror, I see them looking back, checking me out, trying to see if I'm turning around or going on or whatever.
I'll try that 'social worker' line; the 'I'm a missionary, just back from Africa' line isn't working very well for me. But, when asked if I'm LE, I usually say 'yeah, but not in Las Vegas', even though I'm just a plain ole ordinary bored computer programmer.

Interesting. My standard response is, with a somewhat worried look, 'oh hell no, but you're not are ya???' Typically this gets almost a laugh, that I'd think they'd be hired by Metro looking like that lol....

Ya, I learned it from you hahahahaha. My latest experiment [again, i do my trolling on foot] has been, in my morning tours, to go directly to talking about oral....eating that is. It's called a Police Package they get the lights on the side and a whole lot of engine, suspension, transmission modifications and upgrades these babys are fast and can keep all 4 wheels on the ground. the cute lightbars on top depend on the agency that buys the car they do that stuff themselves.
With King falafel dead, the price of oil is skyrocketing, electrical cars are looking good now a days. When 10.00 gets you 3 gallons of gas it's time to think about your options.

I am headed for Las Vegas for 10 days and would like to know where the action is on the street! I'm from S. Florida and it has been pretty good on the streets lately and I'd like cum in LV and continue the string! Streets, sections of the city to look and to avoid.
I've been in several of the strip clubs in the past and most of the casino bars after midnight you can pick someone up for 2-3 bills, but I'd like to try out the local street fare!

Best prospects for seedy LAS would be east of Fremont hotel on the main drag Fremont St, then also on E. Ogden ave, Stewart ave, and Bonanza ave between LV Blvd and Eastern Ave. Charleston is also active. I've picked up ladies here in the past 3 weeks and always when I go to Vegas. Quality is sporadic and be prepared to run into users. See maps.
You're insane to pick anything up off Fremont. I had a retired vise cop who worked the Fremont area for years tell me almost ALL the girls they arrest there are HIV and IV drug users. That area is disgusting, so full of crime it's not even funny. Anyone venturing around Fremont, is likely to get more then they bargained for.

If I recall correctly when they're arrested they're tested. If they're tagged as HIV and go hooking again and get arrested they're screwed.

The intentional spreading of HIV by a Hooker by is a Class B Felony in Nevada , Cienga . Here's the relevant section of the Nevada Revised Statutes =
NRS 201.358 Engaging in prostitution or solicitation for prostitution after testing positive for exposure to human immunodeficiency virus: Penalty; definition.

Every single time I've been by the Stadium Saloon at night the past couple of weeks there has been a woman out front doing an imitation of a potted plant. At least three different women that I've seen, not just the blonde I reported earlier, but each time she was as stationary as if her toes were nailed to the pavement, even when I saw someone pull over nearby, and each time the same gal was still in the same precise spot on a return trip ten or fifteen minutes later. I think this is still within Metro jurisdiction, but it is getting out close to Henderson, so I'm not sure.
No doubt someone out there will be drunk enough to put their foot in that one. Won't be me.

I'm not surprised a retired vice cop has a low opinion of that area and residents. It's simply not true though. Sure, there is a small % that have one bug or another, but playing safe can sure mitigate the odds at transmission. Others would also say that the area is simply not safe, that one should never walk around after dark solo. Again, sure not my experience. But I'm not comfortable with either generalization, just be careful out there...

Here are the facts. When a prostitute is arrested for solicitation in the state of Nevada an HIV test is required. They must be tested, they are not given a choice. Do you understand this member2984? When the vise cop I mentioned in my last post told me, that most of the drug users and prostitutes working the Fremont area are positive for HIV, I believe him. Because when these girls are arrested they are tested, this is how he "knows" how many of them are infected. Have you ever taken a look around at the street life in that area? Not a real pretty scene. Most of the people who reside around Fremont have long ago given up on life and are simply drugging themselves into the next life.
Also, who are you people fooling. Sure there are laws on the books about a known prostitute who is positive working, but is it enforced? It can be, but usually it is not, unless it can be proven that prostitute directly infected someone. Usually this aspect of the charges are dropped and the prostitute is released.
Keep it covered boys, or pay the price.

I also can't help wondering how it is that the retired vice cop finagled such an extraordinary special exemption from federal health care privacy laws. Disclosure [by the medical lab or the authorizing physician] of this information to anyone but the patient and health care personnel directly responsible for treatment, even to immediate family, would ordinarily result in big fat lawsuits as well as medical license revocations, federal injunctions, impoundment of medicaid funds, etc. Just curious.
Downtown, by the way, is not even close to the most "disgusting...crime ridden" areas of Las Vegas. I ought to know, as I've long been an afficianado of such places. On my list downtown ranks about in the middle, around sixth or seventh on the list. But it is highly visible becuase it is such a mixed area with tourist and business traffic mingling with transient occupancy and low to moderate income places near to the high rise development sites of million dollar condos, and it would seem that we don't live up to everyone's standards of urban hygene, and it would be best, in that case, never to wander more than a few dozen yards from the Strip resort corridor, which is not in Las Vegas by the way, or perhaps the gated cul-de-sac area of Summerlin, which isn't either, and never to venture into the evil that lurks within the city limits.
But there are indeed dangers and pathologies to be found there, as well as elsewhere (and to about the same extent) and managing risks, of which this is only one, is something I always want to keep in mind. I ought to know, since I'm downtown about three to four days (and nights) a week on average, and not just to cruise around squinting at the streets through a windshield. Someday I might like to market a "Depraved Vegas" tour. Sort of a horror-house/thrill-ride concept for pampered Rancho Cucamonga suburbanites and effite Santa Monica sophisticates and such. "Bus is now leaving from the Town Tavern Casino at Jackson and H, all aboard, next stop, back of the Opera House, en route to the Four Aces parking lot, and remember to please keep your hands inside the bus at all times and don't feed the residents as we observe the wild Vegans in their natural habitat. We don't want another incident like the one on Tam or at the Eureka..."
Those tours would be an eye opener for many, wouldn't they? I'm amazed at how many people think Fremont is such a bad area. It's not as entertaining as the "good ole days" but disgusting & crime ridden? Too funny. It's not as glittery as the south of Sahara, not really Las Vegas area but disgusting & crime-ridden?
"YEAH! VEgas baby!!" as they sit in their pampered tourist-cube somewhere in the middle of Paradise. You want Vegas? The real Vegas? It ain't fountains and atriums. C'mon downtown and explore. You can still hear the echo of it between the light shows.
The vice cop, I think, was just offering one of those overly generalized pearls of wisdom that seem to be issued with the badge. The privacy issue would only apply if he pointed someone out.

That's very peculiar. They won't be sending the lab results to him (the officer) when they are processed, regardless of where and when they are being tested, and he has no idea what's in the medical records of people he has arrested. It's not his job, and he's not entitled to find out. Public health officials are not routinely giving HIM results of medical tests, not for tuberculosis, not for HIV, not for hepatitis, not for the clap, not for influenza, not for any illness. So yes, I think there is more than a pinch of hyperbole and imagination involved, though I don't have any reason to doubt that he might be sincere in his beliefs.
I was supposed to get a tour (from another monger here) of the sleazy side of Las Vegas on my trip out last year, but things fell through. I got sucked back into AMP hell though when I was there this summer. Blah! I think on my next trip, I'm getting the insurance on the rental and venturing out.
I think Wastrel should be one of the first new Senior Members after that process is cleared up. I keep missing, then later finding, his useful posts due to the delay.

Before you get the insurance, check with your credit card carrier, some automatically include it if you rent cars on their card. Hell yeah, git venturing!

The downtown dialog here provoked me to reflect on what I really do and don't see there now, but I think it's best if I carry my general observations and ruminations on that over to the "Off-topic" thread, so I have.
Hey fellow mongers, I gave it a whirl this morning between 3:30am & 5am down LV Blvd to Charlston, east to Eastern north to Fremont to LV Blvd., north to Bonanza and then east. I travelled around some of the side streets and then back to the strip, where I am staying. I saw a few real weak SW's, but nothing even to hesitate over on Fremont.
OK, was it the wrong time, was I in the wrong place, or is Monday morning a bad day after the weekend? There's a lot of senior writer's in this area, can you give an east coast monger a few more tips to success! It would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think your experience was unusual, and it's probably not one of the best cities in the country for SWs. Hunting SWs tends to be a game for locals with a lot of time to cruise around, and most visitors and a lot of locals as well would probably rather stick with the high end casino girls in the Strip resorts, in my opinion. There are other tracks you could try, such as a long stretch of Boulder Highway and a short patch of Paradise Rd near the Hard Rock, but many other SW areas are hard for me to recommend to most visitors becuase they are either spotty and inconsistent or in very rough neighborhoods.
It is wise to be very cautious and discrete in all of them. For example, your experience on Van Buren in PHX can easily happen in LV as well, and Vegas Metro P.D. is not widely known for it's sense of humor when someone makes a spectacle of themselves on the street.

PH[/QUOTE]You are definitely in the right areas. I have a job that allows me to cruise that area, and I have seen decent prospects from 1230am - 3am. I have also seen them between 9am and 11am (motel check.out time?). You just have to be persistent. You could try starting a little farther west on fremont (near el cortez and the western), and if you have the miles stay on Fremont through its transition into boulder hwy (under the 95) until you get back down to flamingo. If you haven't found anything by then head back. I sometimes alternate between charleston and fremont when I run a circuit.
You can also check the 7-11 and liquor stores at twain and swenson. They have been active lately. Sierra vista has also had a few too, but they are more infrequent these days, and usually have a pimp in tow.
Whatever you do keep a good heads up for metro. They have been really heavy in all these areas over the last couple of days. They are running the standard unmarked crown vics (white, metallic blue, and bronze), but they are also using a red and black, two-tone,full size dodge extra-cab truck (that is virtually undetectable as a metro unit) and a marroon/red dodge caravan. I tried to snap a couple pictures of the truck, but I was also trying not to be obvious, and they came out like crap, but be aware they are out there.
The rock or Boulder Highway is usually my cruise. The track runs from the Castaways to Sams Town. It's hit or miss at best. There is always competition around. Run by one and turn around the block and they are gone. Thats the way it is. Once in a while excellent quality is available.
I agree with the others, LVFan hit it on the head. I've always thought that the time frame you toured is the worst too. My two fave times are like 7-9am and 7-9pm. Morning, for those trolling for their 'wakeup' cash, and starting to fret about paying for their room that night, and 7-9pm, this time of year, as the sun finally drops but it's not quite nightcrawler time yet. Thanks LVF for the metro update, I've also heard Thursdays can be bad as two schedules overlap, doubling the coverage. You were in the right area tho.
Okay, I'm bored with nothing to do, so I'll write a report. I generally have decent luck in this town and have gotten down the art of getting girls for 60 bucks or less. Good ones. Although sometimes I will go as high as 1$$. I'm persistent, though, which enables me to get good quality at least once a week, AND I DON'T DRIVE.
I take the friggin' bus and scan the streets, and then stop at two places of my choosing, walk the areas a bit, and then go home. I swear at least 30% of the time I spy a cutie from the bus window, get off at the next stop, and then the game is on.
Anyway, I saw a bangin' black beauty right across from the Carl's jr. across from the Strat Monday night around 11 pm or midnight. Tight jeans, with the middle thighs bleached white, and a top that showed her midriff. A nice tattoo of a spider in a spiderweb around her belly button. Oh my, but she had a former athlete's body, and she said later she ran track.
I said hello, and she asked if we could get a drink somewhere. I settled on buying a six pack, and taking the bus back to her budget suites near the Stardust. About 5' 5" or 6", just had a string of bad luck. Shame shame shame. She normally charges 150/HR, but was taking whatever she could get, since she was about to get kicked out and needed to make 5$$ that night. My last few (non-monger) runs on The Rock have been between 9 & midnite and have shown much potential.
There should be much more LEO presence in the area as another "outlet" has opened in the St Loo/Atlantic area.
If I recall their used to be a sub station by that area so it might be the same place but you should be seeing more bikes and unmarkeds.
I see the Green Shack is now history...

Stopped by the Chettah for a warm up dance. The place hasn't changed much, but i remember the gals being a bit more touchy feely. Or maybe it was the dancer? Didn't hang around to find out.
I took a ride down charleston and freemont. Freemont had several SW, though most you wouldn't touch no matter how hard up. There were also a lot of LE on bikes as i saw them arresting one cutie who i might have picked up, but they were on their hassling the SWs nite apparently. Thus, i headed back to the strip to drink and gamble some. On the plus side, instead of spending $$$ on women, I won $$$$.
