No judgment at all to those still partaking in our favorite hobby, but seeing as I've abstained from it for almost two months now (WTF) I'm just wondering what's the psychology behind seeing providers during our current circumstances. The physical urge overpowers the mind? You think the risks have been exaggerated? You figure you were rolling the dice with BB anyway so why stop now? Guess I'm asking because I'm strongly considering breaking my sexile and seeing someone from M's or maybe The Palace and just wanted some feedback prior to doing so.
Hey TRC. Personally, my choice to hobby in March / April was a bit of a calculated risk. I watch the daily briefings from the la county director of public health (dr. Barbara ferrer). She gives really helpful local statistics to gauge the severity of the epidemic. The threat of contagion is real, which is why I observe the "safer at home" order 98% of the time. But even though the virus is very much out there, not everyone has it. Yet. I looked at the data and decided to take a gamble.
I've seen 3 providers since the "safer at home" order went into effect. So far (knock on wood:, no symptoms (or maybe I'm just asymptomatic). I asked each provider if they've been busy, and all 3 reported fewer clients are booking appointments. All 3 indicated that was fine too, as it limits their risk.
If I had any of the risk factors (underlying health condition, over 65 w / o, immuno-compromised), I'd probably abstain. But I don't, which is why I'm still willing to gamble (at least for the time being).
