My, my, my. Last night I'm sitting at Huntingdon station talking with Angela, Yevette, Bella, Jen, and Trish who was sitting in my vehicle. We were having a good time sharing the days events when who should appear but our wonderful boys in blue. Now I say boys because men tend to act like men and boys like boys. These guys were acting like boys. Very immature boys at that. They belong to our elite warrant unit that can't seem to catch the bad guys so they would rather try to nab one of our girls and make an example of her.
It has always been my impression of the warrant unit that they are a bunch of guys that enjoy playing dress up and run around the Kensington area doing there utmost best trying to impress the same girls they are trying to catch. And don't you just love all those flashlights they all carry. Little ones, big ones, regular bulbs, and the all new top of the line halogens.
For those of you that don't know, the Huntingdon station has better lighting than Disney World during an eclipse. What need there is for a flashlight I'll never know. But each and everyone of these angry little boys had one that either clipped to another gadget or had its own little hide away pouch.
Now, please, don't get me wrong. There are a bunch of SWs running around the Kensington area that are making so much money out there and not paying taxes on this money that it is threatening our very fragile economy. Now, rightfully so, they should all be rounded up and checked for warrants as often as it takes. This task should be performed till they all get a warrant and they can be locked up so that some overpaid judge can turn them loose. Ever wonder if those judges have pants on under those black robes? I have. I've also wondered what goes on under that big desk they sit behind in court that nobody can see under. You know that could very well be the work release program for prostitutes.
Back to my little adventure
So three of their vehicles surround my vehicle that had no intention of going anywhere anyway. The strange thing is I'm sixty one years old surrounded by five of the prettiest women I know and they think I'm going to leave? Not tonight guys.
They jump out with their scowls, ignorance and well honed attitudes to perform the tasks that they had sworn by almighty god to uphold. Two of the six were still trying to get dressed into their costume as they exited their vehicle. I just had to laugh as it was like their moms hadn't dressed them on the way out the door so they wanted to finish the process before confronting the ever elusive and notorious Kensington Street Walker. They wouldn't want to set the wrong impression. I wonder if they forgot to take their lunch when they left home. Just something that crossed my mind.
Angela saw what was about to take place and decided she would be more comfortable out of the picture. She gracefully exited the area without being noticed but returned after the visitors left.
Then one ever so zealous member of the troupe approached my truck and did his quick inspection of my vehicle with his always present and trusty black flashlight.
I've often wondered what makes these guys so ignorant and angry with the world. Could it be all that pussy running around out there and they aren't getting any?
So he poked his head in my truck and spotted my camera. Acted like he didn't see it, but I could tell he was impressed. Do you think maybe he wanted me to take his picture? Who knows, I may have done that when he was riding Santas lap this past Christmas season.
Like I said, Trish, who is a gorgeous 23 year old, was sitting with me in my truck. The warrant guy asks me if I knew what her name is. I smiled and said doesn't everybody know, her name is Trish? He started to get an even worse attitude and asked how long I knew her. I responded that that question has no merit to the situation at hand and I would not answer. I said it would make no difference if I knew her ten minutes or ten years we were doing nothing wrong. I'm thinking "boy if he only knew Trish lives with me guess I would really be in trouble". Then he more told me than asked that I was there looking for prostitutes. I jokingly asked why are you looking for a date this evening? He did not like that or see the humor in it at all. He said OK wise guy give me your I'd we'll see who has the last laugh.
Gave it to him and he spent the next ten minutes checking me out. So guess he was looking for a date after all. In the mean time he started asking my friends had they ever arrested and what their PPP number is. Everybody said they hadn't been arrested and had no idea what a PPP number is.
By this time the other troops have these dangerous girls all rounded up and surrounded standing by the SUV just waiting to put the black and white striped suits and a ball and chain on each and every last one of these notorious criminals and get them on a road crew in some distant county somewhere. They ran a check on all of us and of course we all came back cleaner than a fresh load of laundry done with Tide detergent. The girls walked away and I could see the grave disappointment on each of the boys faces.
The why slapped each other on the backs and reassured each other that they did a good job. They all vowed to look for each other at the Dunkin Donuts as often a possible.
Then the guy with the attitude that studies ignorance as a second language returned to my truck and tossed my I'd on the seat. He mumbled something about next time. I guess he is still looking forward to a date with me. He's going to be heartbroken when he finds out I don't do guys. Guess he'll really cop an attitude then. He walked back to his SUV I yelled goodbye out the window and he acted like he didn't hear me. So to be sure, I sounded my horn which got his attention. When he looked at me I looked him right in the eye and smiled and waved and mouthed the words G o o the be why e. You know he refused to say goodbye back and he drove off into the darkness. He was not at all sociable. As he was driving away a big grin came to my face. Then I knew what he meant when he said "we'll see who gets the last laugh".

The girls you were with are known prostitutes. You were with known prostitutes in a area notorious for prostitution & drugs. Put two & two together and even Ray Charles can see those officers had probable cause to approach you and the women. Don't knock LE because sooner or later most people need them at one time in their lives. Of course LE are like every one else-there are good and bad within their ranks. As far as the last laugh just remember there are way more of them than you. In situations like that it is best to keep a low profile and at least act respectful even if you don't mean it. It can have a tendancy to come back & bite you later. You may have thought you won that battle but you can still lose the war. Those warrant guys, the one time I encountered them, were smartasses and assholes, even though I was extremely respectful and compliant with them.
They do have a job to do, as do all LE, and I appreciate that job- but there is no reason to be assholes doing it. They can do their job, being respectful and professional- and most people will respond to them with the same. If they don't respond that way, then they can be assholes all they want, IMHO.

Hard to believe nobody on here knows what is going on with her. Phone has been out of service for weeks and she does not reply to PMs. She is usually good about keeping up with that stuff. I keep seeing her in cars with other mongers so I know she is still around.

As it was funny the way it happened. These guys dress up in their costumes and rush to the scene to make the big bust only to find there is nothing to bust. Its a scene right out of the Keystone Cops. I try to see the humor in life as there is enough sadness out there. It is agreed that prostitution and soliciting prostitutes is a crime. But not the big bad crime these over zealous idiots make it out to be.
As for impressing the ladies, not on your life. You are right it may come back later to bite me. I'll tell you right up front, I transact no business in my vehicle or on the ave. I carry nothing in my vehicle that could in any way get me into any trouble.
I disagree there is probable cause to stop and question people simply because they happen to be talking to "Known prostitutes".
I always have trouble with that "known prostitute" bull. Known to who? Certainly not to everybody. Wouldn't it have to be known to me to become an issue? How would I know these Girls are of a questionable occupation? To the police? They have been known to make mistakes before? Now that is what is known. Then again they have a label for just about everybody. Hmmmmm makes me wonder. Many of the girls don't have a sign although some might just as well. But the girls I was talking to had no sign. They were just talking. I was the only guy there and they surely wasn't fighting over me nor I them. I'll be right up front with everybody they all wasn't blowing me. But how I do wish.
So the probable cause issue with me the way I see it seems to go out the window. Wishes do not constitute acts.
Now to the issue of being in a known area of drugs and prostitution does not make one a participant simply because they happen to be having a friendly chit chat. Where on Kensington ave from top to bottom is not a known drug or prostitution area? Can we not talk to anybody on the ave? Must we avoid it completely?
What these guys did, no matter how professional or unprofessional was wrong. They mentioned no phone calls on us. Nothing changed hands such as money or drugs not even a french frie. No Nobody had a prior record. There were no ever elusive PPP numbers that they seem to always be looking for. So certainly there was no probable cause. It is beyond me to agree they had any reason but to harass someone and try to show off a bit that they even stopped.
What they did was wrong. Totally wrong, simply because they are cops. The minorities have to deal with that issue on an everyday basis. These same "officers" are a joke in the Northeast where many of them live. They fear the person they treat like that may be a neighbors daughter, wife or other close aquaintance. They do not treat the women of the Northeast the way they treat the women in Kensington. They assume all women in kensington are working girls, prostitutes, and junkies. Especially if they don't live there especially if they happen to have on a torn hoodie that day. That must be a dead giveaway.
It is assumed by these guys all men in the area are jobless, johns, dealers, or druggies. Again especially if they are from another neighborhood. The feeling among the police, mainly the warrant unit is, people from other neighborhoods don't belong there and are not wanted there by them. This is why I think they are the joke in uniform that they are. They try to make the rules to fit their agenda that day. Tomorrow the rules change. It may not even take that long.
When in an area known for drugs and prostitution we can't simply be required not to talk to someone because the warrant unit "THINKS" they are known prostitutes or druggies. Otherwise many of the transit customers that exit that station would also be guilty every time one of these questionable people ask for a short or change to buy a loosie. Not to mention prostitutes and druggies do talk about other things besides prostitution and drugs. They do have friends.
So to unilaterally assume that every conversation on the streets of Kensington is about drugs and prostitution is just the other side of KOOK KOO.
The point here is is not the legality of prostitution or drugs. Quite the contrary. The point is the police, mainly the warrant unit seems to feel they can stop anyone on a whim and assume all are prostitutes, druggies, ex offenders, or Johns. That in a nutshell is wrong and always will be wrong.
I know what the limits are and try to remain within those boundaries. As stated by another monger prior, I don't recommend any of the Newbies, or anybody for that matter, to push the envelope as far as I sometimes push it. As was mentioned if they wish they will dig something up on us no matter how trivial.
What the warrant unit has to recognize is, as long as they dish out disrespect to those people that frequent and live in Kensington, no matter for what reason, then they will reap the disrespect they sow. They deserve it.
I have been on the Ave for forty years and to date have never needed the services of the warrant unit. It is doubtful at this point I ever will.
I have never seen a warrant stop on the ave that was respectful of anybody. They push, shove, punch, kick, and maim anybody that disagrees with them. I"ve seen them push and hit women and people that simply did not understand them because of a language barrier. This disrespect for the community is not something they was born with. It is inbred. Something they have been taught by their parents, friends and associates through out their lives. They have lived it so long they think it is normal.
We all must realize, that in a position of public service, respect is tantamount to all else to reach the ends they are trying to accomplish. Without respect for the community there will always be those of us that will speak against it.
I will give that respect to those that show me the same. Now shame on those that refuse. The pen is always mightier than the sword.
