I have said this all the time, I haven't car dated in over 15 years, yeah the notel proprietor can be in on a sting and call the cops as soon as your in the room with the girl, but they still have to prove that its for money, or they have nothing. If they creep up on you (which is what they do) and catch you doing anything in the car, even just groping and kissing apparently, because they will lie to make an arrest, your cooked.
Car daters beware. Maybe we can start an underground list of motels whose proprietors realize that they rely on our business and won't work with LE.
First let me say that this only applies to after dark, if you car date in the daylight, you got balls brother!
First of all, be aware that LE isn't interested in a mere prostitution bust if they target you in this manner, they are going after the big ticket, i.e. Lewd Conduct.
You pick up the girl, as you turn down a side street and get fairly far down the street a car behind you flashes its bright lights, not for long, just a quick flash so that LE can record your license plate.
Then, no matter how many turns you make, they follow you. When you park, they make a u turn and lead you to believe that they are gone.
They aren't! What they are doing is parking their vehicle, then they creep up to you on foot, shine the flashlights into your car from both sides, and you are screwed.
They get you out of the car, cuff you , and then they call for a BW car to take you to the station for booking.
No way you are getting out of it, even if you saw then coming and had your pants pulled up before they reached your vehicle, they will just lie about what they saw in their report.
Best case scenario, you get a good lawyer, plea bargain down to solicitation and it only costs you $15,000, lawyer fees, fines and oh yes, penalty assessments, in essence you pay for your own bust and court hearing.
Friends don't let friends car date!
Perhaps DL or WC will care to offer a different opinion, this is after all a forum, I don't have the only voice in it.

He took our licenses and went back to his patrol car and was obviously pulling up info on his computer. He was there for a good 15-20 minutes. I knew I had nothing to worry about since I have no priors. On the other hand, I had no idea about the girl's previous record?
Finally, after what seemed like hours, he returned with our licenses and stated that we were getting off with a warning, but not before he took down some information on us. I was polite and cooperative, but literally said nothing, other than I offered the girl a ride to get out of the rain. The officer seemed to question her more about her choice of profession and warned against the dangers. The only thing that was a bit uncomfortable was that we both had to give him a thumbprint. He stated that it was simply for that particular PD's internal records and that since I was NOT being cited, that it could NOT be used against me. It was simply a notification to other units that if I/we were to ever be stopped again, it would show that I had apparently had "intent" of soliciting a prostitute.
I'm not a lawyer, but it's pretty sad that in a world of violent gang infestations and dope pushers, that LE spent nearly 45 minutes repromanding two adults, sitting in a car, doing nothing.
Bottom line: I was able to drive away, go home, and sleep in my own bed, and for that I was thankful. I guess for LE, the cop was pretty cool, but it's a hard pill to swallow when they take themselves away from serious crimes to talk to two consenting adults. I'm just grateful that I didn't go to jail, and I'll leave you all with that.

I had several close calls in the past year, and I should have let those be warning signs, but I had to take it one step further. I believe the interrogation worked as I have zero desire to even get close to places like FIG, LBB, Holt, HB, Colorado, etc...

I exclusively cardate but I avoid the fig like the plague. I haven't hit the fig since the mid 90's, now they charge too much for me. I do however pick up on occasion that american indian girl on imperial and fig, but I take her far away, past san pedro. Since I grew up in the area I know many more spots to park at to stay away from the tracks.

i wonder if they just printed your thumb like that to put it in your mind that you were in trouble as a deterrent. there is no way that would be admissible, the cops just do stuff like that to fuck with your head. and i bet it scared the shit out of you so it prob works a lot.
it would be a ballsy move perhaps, but i might consider refusing to give a print under those circumstances. but then you risk pissing off an LAPD officer and you never know what bullshit they will invent to make your life a nightmare so you probably did the right thing by closing your trap and complying with the request.
if you have access to any criminal lawyers you should ask them about this encounter and weather or not it is even legal to print you in this situation. you may have a case against LAPD for harassment.

They didn't tell me why I was being printed nor did I ask. They just said something to the effect that they just needed this as part of my information.
Anyway, I figured it was more aimed as a scare tactic than anything else since they knew they technically had no legitimate case against me.

On the thumbprint, I think you're right about it being for future prevention. I was not arrested and not given a citation. If I was arrested and given a citation, I would have legally had ro be given a copy with a notice to appear. Not the case, he simply took some basic info and the thumbprint, then claimed it was strictly for their internal database.
I'm not a lawyer, but I wasn't cited for any crime and thus there can't be a conviction. Without a conviction, there can't be penalties or fines, I think?
I'll make a few calls to double check.
Ok, I'm not entirely sure why they are fingerprinting you, and I'm almost positive you can refuse. I don't know what law allows them to do that. Of course you are probably just breathing a sigh of relieft that is all that is happening. But I don't think the police can force you to get fingerprinted if you are not being charged with a crime. However if they tell you that they are going to arrest you if you do not submit to the fingerprint because you are refusing to be fingerprinted, I would get fingerprinted and then speak with an attorney about filling a lawsuit against LAPD as well as writting to the judge overseeing LAPD due to the Rampart corruption stuff.
What they are doing with the information and fingerprint is making a prostitution contact card. If you are arrested in the future, they will use this to help prove that you have done this before. Also, they will use it if they catch you loitering again to prove you loiter often. This is the same way they document gang members, although I didn't know about the fingerprint part.
BTW, this totally underscores the need to get off the main track as quickly as possible, and get as far away from the main track as possible. It also shows the need to pay attention to anyone following you. I've only had issues come up a few times, but they all fell squarely in this advice. The only time LE has ever stopped me was on a total fluke where an UC LE just happened by where me and a girl were parked as he was going around the block for another girl. So he called in a B&W. This never ever would have happened had I been more than a block away from the main stroll. On another occasion, I had a grey van follow me through several turns. Turns out, it was 18th street back when Olympic/Alvarado was hopping and the girl I was with hadn't paid her $50 protection that night. I punched it and lost them. I have no doubt that being aware of my surroundings kept me from getting robbed and beat up that night.

it's true about the feeling of invincibility, I have been cardating off and on for almost 5 years, and I've never been caught with a girl in my car, the closest I've ever come was a girl leaning into my car on a side street as the cop was pulling into the street, he asked me what I was doing and I said I was in the mood for donuts and had to fill up my tank of gas, he quizzed me for 10 minutes and I stuck to my story, he let me go with a 'warning' that I should go home.
Well, about a year ago, I had a similar incident but I got away, I picked up this chick on 48th st, she got in my car and we parked, once we parked a van drove right up to us with his headlights and I hadn't turned the car off yet so I jammed out, he chased us for about 6 blocks, I circled the block and got back on Vernon heading towards Fig, on fig I caught a yellow on the late, late side, you could argue I ran a red but as soon as I got on the other side of Fig I made a right and dissappeared into the 110fwy, ever since then I NEVEr pick up a girl without first making a round around the block to scope, no matter how hot she is, and I've lost MANY hotties because of this but I refuse to pick up a girl without scoping the area.
Also I never pick them up going towards the main street I always pick them up going away from the main street and then, I don't even talk business until I'm at least 5 or 6 blocks away and I always zig zag around the streets so I can see if someone is behind me.
I"m not saying that I'm good at it, I think I've been lucky, because it's a matter of luck, one time I had just finished with a girl and she had already put on her clothes when a cruiser drove by the street we were on, he saw me but I was drinking out of a mcdonalds cup, he turned away but had he come by 4 minutes earlier, I'd of been toast, since we were about a mile away from the track he had little to suspect but still, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what's happening inside an automobile that rocks back and forth.

Fingerprinting suspects legal or not?
Not sure on this one, If you have not committed a crime, is it legal to fingerprint a suspect prior to arrest?
I have noticed a box on traffic tickets for fingerprints, but once you get a ticket you move from suspect to criminal technically.
Cops use a form commonly known as an FI card or Field Interview card where identification information is copied onto, it includes ss# name address phone number vehicle id info. personal stats age height weight clothing a space for a narrative location etc. Adding a fingerprint to this card would allow LE to maintain a database of "suspects" that could be searched, DNA evidence could theoretically be obtained if enough sweat or other matter ends up on the card. but chances are the quality would not be sufficient enough for prosecution or identification.
Should LE do this depends, should they do it to mongers ? I say no, chances any monger is committing burglary or other crimes they would need prints for is a joke.
This further reinforces why everyone should have a reason for being where they are, practice it stick to it, don't falter if everyone stopped admitting to crimes and people stopped pleading guilty the system would have to resort to actually prosecuting only the truly guilty not the innocent who get caught up in questionable situations.
I was driving home from work around 11pm and spotted a LSW near the gas station a few streets east of prarie blvd and she was making a phone call.
I drove moderately slow and she gave me the looks so, I stopped inside the gas station and she quickly came over. Her name's Nena and she went inside my car and we did the check.
So, I got a decent BBBJ for 30, but after we were done, I drove back towards the gas station and I can see a cruiser coming straight towards us and I was calm and drove at a normal speed. I look at my rear view mirror and see the cruiser making a U-turn and I was so freaked out, but did not speed up. I made a turn told her to get out ASAP, which I'm surprised she complied quickly because normally they would be scared as well.
I felt like I got away with one again because I have been caught before in a sting.
Anyways, I think I'm going to chill for awhile until the police activity slows down.
One more thing about car dates......I've booted 3 SB sw's out of my car in the past few months. Those of you that cruise this area know how difficult it is to pick up there, even when its hopping like mad late night. So its frustrating as hell when the girls absolutely refused to drive more than a block or two from SB. Nonetheless, I can't risk LE rolling up on me while an sw of dubious tenure is sloberring on my knob.

Dude I know the feeling.
I been mongering a while and I have run into some stuff.
Never actually busted by LE but one time in Long Beach the officer made it clear he was trying should I or the girl say the wrong things. We got seperated and not sure what she said but they took her away and let me go and told me never to come back. Too bad she was super hot too.
The most scariest moment was recently when I made a huge mistake of letting the girl pick the spot. Well not the exact spot but she wanted to stay close to the area I picked her up. I know better then this but I picked a spot one street down. She got tricky and I am pretty sure she wanted to go for my wallet. I told her to get out. She refused so I pulled her out of my car. She bit me so I grabbed her and pulled her away from my car. I tried to get into my car to get away but two guys in a car pulled up. She knew them. One did not seem like he wanted to be there but unfortunately for me the other one was one angry sob. He started punching me and trying to take my wallet out of my pants. I finally agreed to give them what they wanted but he would not stop hitting me. I finally yelled as loud as I could for someone to call the cops. They all three got into the car and ran as fast as they could.
All I know is if the guy had a knife I am sure I would be in the hospital or worse...
I would say where it happened but it does not matter as I am pretty sure they were not from the area and if could happen anywhere. While this is by far the worst thing I have encountered I have seen smaller stuff happen on Fig, LBB and back in the day Century.

1) I'm looking for a gas station. (I usually cruise on damn dear an empty tank to make this one believe-able.)
2) I'm finishing my hamburger. (I always get a Big Mac and Fries and eat it about halfway while cruising.)
3) I'm on my way home from work. (Luckily I live very close to the freeway about a mile away from Figueroa so this one is very believe-able.)
Thankfully I've never been stopped.

That FI card you referred too sounds spot on as to what the officer filled out. Of course, he had my license and vehicle info, but then he asked for my SSN, home phone #, and made reference to things like weight, skin tone, facial hair, etc...
The last part of his querry consisted of taking a thumbprint. Again, he stated that it was solely for the internal use of that particular department. But given the "good ol' boy" network of many different municipalities, I wouldn't doubt if they had joint access to these so-called "records."
Kinda' pisses me off though, since they've got me marked as a person to be watched, even though I was never arrested or cited for a crime!
