I don't know the rules really. And really don't care. I post what I post, I ask what I ask, and I pm when I want. I hate being judgemental, for obvious reasons, I sure as hell wouldn't want anyone judging me by what I do.

I love the sight, taste and touch of women! I like almost everything about em! Just can't live with em! That's why I monger! That's why I'm on this site!
I usually ignore pm's from non-seniors just to keep my providers safe. I see enough good intel on here not to worry too much about "trading" info. I get some good leads some bad. It all evens out.

Assman's a good dude, he's set me in the right direction in the past, and he would have the right to be a little pissed, if the offer was directed at him.

It wasn't, and can just be ignored as a noobies' faus pax(?).

Secondly i didn't mean to start a firestorm over this, to my mongering buddies i apologize for compromising the integrity of the site. Yeah Big Dik made a noobie mistake, im sure he see's that now. I made a mistake by over reacting. Let's just all get along, keep it what it is, and share with each other. BDD, take it from yet another sr member that would like to see you succeed in this group rather than be subjected to the anticipated flaming that you deserve. I'd suggest that you take a few steps backward, rtff, listen to what others have to say and contribute your own personal experiences, before you begin negotiations. Sr members with 100+ posts do this because we want to, not because we need to. We do this for the safety and convenience of our friends and brotha's in the group as well as the safety of the providers that have served us well. Maybe you can "make an offer" on this site, however, if you want to barter and 'make offfers', I'd suggest you go to the classified section to conduct your business.

When I check Dayton, it is frequently just dead and of little use.

If you are unaware of Google Voice you need to educate yourself! This is free service by Google that allows you to port a phone number or assign yourself a new phone number. For our hobby a new phone number is most likely the way to go. This can become your mongering number. You can make and receive calls from this number via your current phone number but have your caller id masked by your GV number. It's actually pretty sweet. I won't get into a tutorial here but if any SM's have questions you can PM me. I'm pretty techie so I'll help as much as I can. It has it's upsides and downsides but it has allowed this monger to finally call the SW's, CL'ers and BP'ers with a real number instead of blocking it and hoping someone picks up. I have included a link with some pro's and con's. Sorry if this is already common knowledge. I didn't really see it addressed anywhere.

- has it's own voice mailbox

- you can tell it not to forward to your phone at inappropriate times

- you can change what number it forwards to at any time. Not locked in

- you can block certain numbers

- a simple web site to configure. No people to call ever

- a lot I'm sure I am missing.

I had not heard of this, and it sounds very interesting. After reading the article posted, I thought I might point out a couple of aspects which would be most important for board members.

1. Regardless of how many phone lines or "google" numbers on an account, if you make a call directly from any phone, the recipient will see the caller ID from that phone. There are ways to place the call through the Google system, which will mask the ID, that are outlined briefly in the article. Again, all direct phone to phone calls (or texts) will transmit the correct caller ID.

2. All calls and texts involving a number registered in the Google Voice system will be on record in Google's servers. As the article states, Google has a very strict privacy policy that is intended to protect all users from that info being shared. However, I don't believe that any data stored on servers should be considered %100 secure.

Just some food for thought. The article posted is definitely worth reading. If I am mistaken about these points, please correct me.

Well here I sit debating on what to do, when an enormous outpouring of pm's fill my inbox. Thank you very much to the senior, and noob members who have reinspired me. So in a nutshell I will stick around, just for the intel. Now randyman has every right to question someone on something, but when I have a question I find it best to get info thru pm messages. No hard feelings toward him, we are all pretty much the same way as he is. So keep up the good work randyman, it's much appreciated brother. And the person I got the intel from was confedintial. But if anyone is curious pm me. Those who have taken my posts to heart and used my intel know without a doubt I am what I say I am. It's randymans prerogotive to do as he wishes, if he doesn't want my intel thats fine. Chances are though, the intel he got from someone else origianlly came from me, so its a chess match. Okay guys. We are here to be friends and to share valuable info to keep us safe and YES, our providers as well. Seniors and the nubies included. If any time there is a questionable report, please just pm the sender and do not call him out on the board. Tacky! Gather your intel first before alledging any dispurging remarks. He brings up a very good point. This only works if you jump through the hoops to mask your caller ID. I don't personally find it all that cumbersome to do so and the benefits definitely outweigh any negatives but to each his own... I'm a big fan of it as I have replaced my home phone, business phone and hobby phone with 3 different GV numbers.

Well, the problem is while you may "mask" your number so the "google voice" number appears on the caller ID, blocking or masking your number does not prevent the logging of the originating number from being recorded. along with the number displayed, 'google voice" or whatever forwarding service you use will send the number to be displayed, along with the originating number, and the number dialed, so the provider cell phone records, if subpoenaed, will reveal the originating number. Also subpoenaing your cell records will show the provider's return call. Getting a prepaid phone paid for in cash, will show the location of the tower you used when placing or receiving the call. This may narrow down who may have called, but will make it hard to tie calls to you. Unless the phone is found in your pocket.

Very valid points. I don't believe for a second it is a perfect system but it is an option. Unless you are using a tor or some other ip masking device on here your ip address could be tracked back (yes, I know the servers are in Canada and we don't have to worry but just as an example). I'm glad you are bringing up the cons so everyone is more informed.

You can mask your IP by finding a neighbor who leaves his wifi unlocked and use his IP.

Wow! I, er, I mean someone I know has done that exact same thing many times. He always thought it was probably rude to leach off someone else's wireless router. But he never imagined it was actually illegal.

Do you realize how easy it is to take your laptop, pull over on almost any residential street and find a signal from someone's wireless router?

But 5 years? Really? Talk about a waste of taxpayer resources! I could see it if they could show the guy was doing some kind of espionage. But if he was just looking for a hook-up so he could read his email then 5 years is ridiculous. For something he probably didn't even realize was illegal.

To make this post monger related, my friend may have used the borrowed signals to look up numbers for providers when he was out and about with a little time to kill. He won't go so far as to admit that he did because now he's getting paranoid.

I've never registered on a verification site. Nor do I think I ever would. There are too many legit providers out there who don't require it.

The bottom line is if you don't feel comfortable giving your info to a site which is probably a scam or even worse, LEO then don't. There's a reason your gut is telling you not to. Listen to it.

And never, ever, ever give them money or a credit card number.

If you place an ad on CL 99. 9% of the responses from women will be spam. They are automatically generated by spambots which means the person sending them is not even on the computer but has set up a program to send you the email. The spambots are getting more sophisticated so that they even use the name of the city you mention, such as 'Hi I'm in Cincinnati too.
Also if you don't delete your ad you will get fake responses for weeks to come. If you respond by saying 'are you real?' they have your email and you will get dating site/ please verify spam responses for months.

The only way to get past these bots is to ask that any reply contain a specific word or say something about Cincinnati. Also do not respond even if it's to say 'screw you'.

It's too bad spammers have messed up what was once a good deal.
