Why the cop was in the area? Did he believe Rusty looked suspicious, and was up to no good? Or, was he just doing his job and trying to prevent what he believed could be a potential crime from occurring?

Rusty would NOT have the answers to ANY of these questions! Why not just accept the warning on it's face and move on?

I think we all owe him a debt for this post but also his many excellent field reports.

Secondly, if the scenario is how Tomb8871 describes it, then I have to say that the Uncle was pretty considerate. He deserves a slap on the back.

All men are tempted at one time or another. - Governors. State Troopers. Albany Police. Amsterdam Police, many famous men in sports, acting, national politics, have all been involved. It is time the victomless portion is separated from the rest and decriminalized.

If I am not mistaken I believe in a recent article about the drug bust at the Golden Inn they had a task force at one time just dedicated to the Hotels / Motels (It was in the article about the bust in Feb). I know some girls won't book rooms in Colonie due to problems / risk with the force. Being very familiar with the town my suggestion is if you are visiting friends at a incall, limit the time waiting in the car. The bottom line is they are not stupid, they know what goes on in some of these hotels / motels. Have a good story ready like he did. Be safe!

What were they meeting to do? That's anyone's guess and the friendly LEO just guessed. I was talked to by 2 LEO's for being parked on a dark side street in a big windy city once for being on my phone having a perfectly normal conversation with the Mrs. While travelling on business. It just happened to be after 11 pm in a neighborhood known for certain activities and I was on my way back to my hotel after dinner. It happens, be prepared so you are not thrown off by it.

I saw Cheri recently and was a little skeeved out. I'll leave it at that.
