The buck stops with the President......
Correct me if I am wrong Sgt Sanctimonious but aren't the governors of each state not the gate keepers of who stays and who goes and the implementation of what state wide measures are put in place? Check out California and NY numbers while you are at it and then explain to me how this administration is to blame. Is it because we did not have enough ventilators to do long term lung damage to the lucky survivors or is it because the prior administration left our PPP stockrooms filled with empty air, dust bunnies, and rat bait stations? As to our testing, we have done more testing than almost any country in the world. Lastly, perhaps the reason we weren't prepared for the virus before it exploded may have something to do with the fact that the the White House, congress, and senate were embroiled in the biggest bullshit impeachment effort in all of history and the media was busy reporting on hard hitting journalism such as Trump's two scoops of ice cream. Only a myopic idiot would try and blame this all on the White House as there is plenty of responsibility to go around. Your party saw this as an election issue and put the fear of god, well ok they don't believe in god but you get my point, into their sheep and I feel blessed to be alive after narrowly avoiding the. 001% fatality rate. Make sure to raise your mask in between bites and stay safe.
FYI, I voted for Trump in 2016, however this is my blunt assessment of Trump, He's a petty, petulant coward who should be locked in jail for the rest of his days. He's a disgusting human being, with not a single redeeming quality as a man, husband, father, businessman or politician. He cares nothing for anyone but himself and has no empathy, sympathy or morals. Satan himself looks upon Trump in disgust. Just today we passed a daily record of 120,000+ new cases of COVID. Hundreds of millions of us are wearing masks and or hunkered down in our communities and homes trying to make a living in this damaged economy that Trump wrecked through his negligence and stupidity, we are trying to protect the health of our loved ones and families, trying to stay safe ourselves and protect others, and this massive asshole has to go and get some self-gratification holding huge campaign rallies and possibly infect who knows how many other people in the process. He's a criminal sociopath and a major fucking asshole. There's no other way to describe it.
But how do you really feel?

Selective Statistics to push your Narrative
You should write the sequel to Freakonmics and you can cite all your statistics and ignore the underlying root causes and shared responsibility. You still have failed to address the democrat responses in NY, IL, and CA, all of which have some of the highest rates in the country (even with draconian lockdowns) or the fact that this virus is NOT that deadly. Permanently killing the jobs of 10's of millions of people is straight up lunacy. Let me throw some truth on you while I'm at it Libtard. We are going to 200 K cases a day between Thanksgiving and Christmas. So hunker down with your loved ones, family, and 20 favorite CAMP girls (who have probably all been exposed and never knew it) and protect them. Hobbyman and I have some free time this weekend and we will build you a giant fucking cross to carry around on your back as you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders so everyone will KNOW. Take solace in the face that on Jan 20, 2021 we will all be saved when Dementia Joe takes office and has more Lids than a Tupperware party as he grinds out the 3 hour work days. We're fucked.
Once again Apples to Oranges
Well, the data suggests the opposite, countries that took DRAMATIC steps to protect their population's health in the pandemic have generally also protected their economy too. The charts show that countries which suffered the most severe economic downturns like Peru, Spain and the UK are generally among the countries with the highest COVID-19 death rate. And the reverse is also true: countries where the economic impact has been modest like Taiwan, South Korea, and Lithuania have also managed to keep the death rate low. Notice too that countries with similar falls in GDP have witnessed very different death rates. For instance, compare the US and Sweden with Denmark and Poland. All four countries saw economic contractions of around 8 to 9 percent, but the death rates are markedly different: the US and Sweden have recorded 5 to 10 times more deaths per million. https://ourworldindata.org/covid-health-economy
I always get a big laugh when people want to compare the large, diverse Unites States to countries that will either fit within the 5 bureaus of NY or inside the entire state of NY. The US territory covers a good 80+ % of all of Europe. Notice the select charts chosen do not include Chine or Russia for two reasons. They may be worse but most likely, we will never get a straight answer out of them.
Just because something works on a small scale does not mean it can work on a much larger scale.
