General Reports

I have asked several ladies about this, and the response was that that they tend to be either time-wasters or thugs. Some ladies won't see anyone under 30-35 (regardless of race) for the same reasons. Maybe it's a stereotype, but it's their call and I respect that. Size was never mentioned as a factor by anyone I asked.

I have received three responses when I asked about this. They stated that they have had trouble with young black males robbing them, not paying, or trying to get them to work for $10. 00. Another stated it was simply her preference, and how she was raised.

If that's truly one's preference then that's an acceptable explanation, in my opinion. However, the issues about getting robbed, stiffed, or low balled are possibly a flaw in their screening process or advertising techniques. So AA men are the only ones who rob, stiff or low ball? I know for a FACT that this is not the case. I respect the person who just says it's their preference as opposed to someone who comes up with an excuse based on a stereotype.

That's BS too. I do believe in the past I have mentioned that AA ladies are doing it too, but hey if you want to start the thread go ahead. Nobody ever said that only non AA ladies use exclusionary practices. At least I never did.

I didn't get into much detail with them, this is what they said THEY experienced. I asked, they gave me an answer. They never said every AA robs, steals, or low balls the rate, but the experiences THEY had, made them change their advertising techniques and or screening process. To each their own I always say. Same thing with your preference of women whatever that may be. It's not like we are dealing with McDonald's here where these providers have to provide services for every person that walks in the door. It is what it is. It's unfortunate that a preference, a question or a bad experience turns into a race issue. They are not bashing AA men in their ads, just stating their preference. People have a choice, wrong or right it's their choice who they want to service.

Well, no, they used to not have any screening process, then they implemented one: "no black guys". Here's how you know it achieves the desired result for them: THEY CONTINUE DOING IT. Do you really think they'd keep turning away potential customers if refusing to see black guys wasn't actually reducing the rate of problems for them?

I really doubt any of them would tell you that black customers are the ONLY ones that cause problems, or that ALL black guys cause problems. But, I think they'd tell you black guys caused a disproportionate number of problems for them and that's why they stopped seeing them. People look for patterns. If, say, you notice that 10% of your customers possess some easily-distinguishable characteristic (race or age) but cause 40% of your problems, it'd be foolish not to start refusing to see people with that characteristic.

I asked another provider about this the other day, and her response was "I'm tired of being told that I need a pimp and why I should go into business with them".
