Hypothetically, had I paid a deposit, and then received word that the funds were not received, I would have sent her a screenshot of proof the money was sent. More importantly, I would've asked the gal for proof she DID NOT receive the Zelle!! Any BS response about her concern for privacy in her banking info and I would've encouraged her to black out whatever personal info she felt concerned about.

Proving You Are Real and Serious and Avoiding Deposits

If you are dealing with a legit provider, her reason in asking for a deposit is simply to make sure you are in fact legit, you are serious and you are 100% going to show up. A Different Kind of Deposit Scam
Watch out for posts where the lady is holding a phone #, presumably hers. Here's why:
One of my regulars was telling me about corresponding with a polite guy. They talked on the phone briefly but mostly texted. He didn't drag the call on and on like a Timewaster J / O guy. She said he asked all the right questions and was nice & respectful in both the call and his correspondence. Then just when they had the date set, he did a 180 in his attitude. He texted her something like this: "Look, if I'm going to drive all the way over to your place, I really need you to give me one final assurance that you aren't a fake. Write down my phone number clearly on a piece of paper and take a selfie. Send it to me. " She was offended (well-reviewed on TER & them) so she didn't do it. Later she complained to one of her friends who said, "Hello! Don't you see what he was trying to do?
She really didn't. She was too confused by his sudden lack of trust and rude demand for the selfie to see he was trying to steal that picture with his phone # on it and then use it to create his own ad by stealing her regular posted photos and adding the selfie with his phone number on it. I can only guess this was for the sole purpose of collecting deposits (which could subsequently destroy her reputation as a legit provider). Lots of broke-ass lazy sickos out there. He probably called her to ensure she was herself real. Then the scheme ensued.
I guess a red flag would be if you saw an ad with a bunch of regular (stolen) photos and then One isolated mirror / other selfie with a different phone number on it.
