Why were you there? Is the only question you answer. That establishes that yeah, you were there, but not for anything illicit. That shifts the burden of proof to them. Keep your mouth shut but don't be a dick about it. Answer any more questions by telling them that you're not answering any more questions.

If you're going to engage in any "illegal" activities. The very least you should do is learn your rights and have a plan for if you get popped.
