My guess is they've worked out by trial and error the price level that gives them the highest response rate. I have seen a few TGTBT ads that are using 180 or even 200, so maybe they're experimenting to see if those prices will also work. And if you consider that the client almost always ends the session as soon as they realize they've been scammed, we're really talking about 10-15 minutes rather than an hour. So I'd say that's pretty lucrative.

The most important thing for the scammer is to get the mark to make that first call. Once they have the mark on the phone, the scammer will have an answer for every possible question the mark might ask. In fact, the more sophisticated scammers may have a written script in which they've worked out the answers ahead of time.

As far as the possibility of the woman being roughed up, that's pretty minimal when you consider that offering primarily outcall services puts the client at a disadvantage. If a client is in their home, or even at a hotel, they can be readily identified and arrested for assault. I would also imagine that the women carry mace / pepper spray, tasers or something else for personal protection and probably have a driver / bodyguard as additional insurance.
