Update: She's still in ICU, still fighting the infection, and per her sister, is no longer fully dependant on the ventilator. She can have up to two visitors at a time. Her sister asks that if you do visit, keep the conversation calm and positive. She still has a long road ahead of her but it's looking a lot less rocky than it was just a few days ago.
MSSA stands for methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus. Staph is the shortened name for Staphylococcus (staf-uh-low-KAH-kus), a type of bacteria. It is an extremely contagious bacteria that is very serious. It can affect you in many ways. It IS PASSED with contact with a person or anything they may have touched. The infection takes many forms. Please goggle this an read up on it. It goes dormant for awhile after exposure. If you have seen Sky in the last 4 or 5 months, you may be infected but dormant so could pass this on to someone yourself. If you have seen Sky, it would be a good idea to let other members know who else you have seen so we can all protest ourselves. These things are turning into super bugs that are becoming immune to current treatment. The fact that Sky has been in the hospital so long indicates she has one of the bad forms of this.
Actually, everyone needs to read up on this to be able to spot symptoms in other providers. From some of the reviews I've seen, as lot of these ladies could be carrying this thing.
