I replied to let her know she was talking to the wrong E-mail -- and I got this strange response:

I do remember the report on the local cable channel. I am 99.9% sure this is her husband (she mentioned him by name) -- and from talking to her I do know that they were high-school sweet-hearts. I know that she must be devastated. I only met he the once and if didn't really happen,and I know others have seen her.

The guy that killed her was apparently crazy -- and know as trouble. He randomly shot Sean.

Not sure what to do -- feel I should at least drop in and leave donation of condolence.

I got an email from Darth Kitten this morning concerning her late husband. This is really a tragic story. I think he leaves behind two children. From other stories and comments they were both well known in the gaming community. She also mentioned that the escort service is closed.

Police ID man who killed neighbor, then himself

Police today confirmed the identity of a man who shot and killed his neighbor and then killed himself Sunday in South Richmond.

Cliff D. Sauer, 48, shot Sean McKay, 28, once in the torso in the 100 block of Chuckatuck Avenue, where both men lived, authorities said.

Sauer then shot himself in the head. He was found in a field a short distance away, near where Old Midlothian Turnpike dead-ends.

Both men died that day at VCU Medical Center.

Police have said a neighborhood dispute might have been to blame for the shooting, but McKay's wife and a neighbor, Glen Sutphin, have insisted that McKay had no disagreement with Sauer.

Police declined today and yesterday to answer questions about the motive. A man and woman at Sauer's home also declined to comment.

Police are recording McKay's death as Richmond's fifth homicide this year, one fewer than the number of killings at the same time in 2008.

This year's total does not include the killing of a man that police ruled was a case of self-defense.

It's been a while since I've taken the time to scold a newbie, but this post warrants it. DoorKnob- a couple things you need to know:

First, you should know that it's generally considered rude and irritating for a newbie to start asking for info before having made any significant contribution.
Second, and equally as important, take the time to read the forum before asking for information. Chances are that the info you're looking for has already been discussed and you'll have your answer without having to even ask the question. If you don't want to take the time reading all the posts, there's a search function so that you can read posts that only pertain to the provider you're seeking information about.

Seniors, I'm curious. Seriously, where did the policy of not allowing newbies to ask questions come from? Why is it rude? Most likely, some guy who's new to the hobby and wants to be safe by doing a little homework on a prospect that he finds interesting.

I only read the Richmond board, do you know if other cities follow this rule too? I can't find anything in the "rules" or "Faq" sections for the site. Kinda like hazing the freshmen, really.

I know when I first joined, I did so in an effort to seek information about our community. I'd been writing "reviews" for years on other sites where it's clear that the review serves to share info. When I first found this site's open forum style. Well, it seems to lend itself to asking questions and being able to get answers from those with more experience. And, this site discusses local ladies who don't have reviews elsewhere. Probably due to lack of a permanent website. So it becomes the ONLY way to do homework.

I do agree with WM point #2, that reading back a few months worth of postings usually answers most questions.

One of the good things about this forum is that is open to people, so if you are new you can follow on reports and then report yourself. One of the bad things about this forum is that is open to everybody, this means that LE can also monitor this site, if you give info to just everybody, and not only to people who have proven themselves with reports, then you create, I think, a security risk for you and your find. This maybe an unwritten rule, but it is a rule that makes sense.

I'm not a senior on this board, but have been contributing some, and have been around the hobby for a while now. I think part of the issue is simply paying your dues. I posted a few reports, and when I had a questions, I sent a PM to a couple of Seniors asking their thoughts. In those notes I mentioned that it was their prerogative to share with a noob (me). I think because my first several posts were actual reports, they responded. Pay your dues, hand out a couple of numbers and/or hot tips, and a noob won't get it so bad when they ask questions. You have to risk a little and post about it before you get some cred.

Also, as these boards grow, they can be used by LEO to get specific information on a provider (or hobbyist). Providers also create accounts to give false reviews/rebut bad reviews (see two postings in the escort section on Roxxi that were made by two brand new members with no postings the day after one bad posting on her). The posts could all be legit, but until I know the source is legit, I'm not going to act on the info, or give any of my own that could come back to bite me. This isn't uncommon in other boards I've participated in.

I think the ref's to reading the faq simply mean, the faq and posts in this forum are all you need to get started. Give it a try, and once you've established you're one of us, the more the merrier.

I saw Ale's response to your question. I agree that the concern over establishing a sense of security for members and the providers they review is one of the underlying reasons for the "unwritten rule" that members need to contribute information before asking for it, but I think there's another issue at hand.
The expectation that members provide info rather than simply ask for it ensures that this board continues to be a good source for information. I'm quite sure that without this incentive, the board would be an endless list of questions without any valid information.

So- just think of it as "good karma" or "paying it forward". If you provide good information here, others will do the same for you. However, if you come here with your hand out and nothing to offer, you're not likely to get a warm reception.

But that's just my two cents on the matter

Frankly, when I read a review posted by someone who is posting for the first time or so. So even coming to the forum offering review (s) first. A Newbie is accepted with some caution.

What makes chastising a newbie mean? Is telling them to RTFF mean? The reason this board works so well is because members call BS when they see it. Newbies asking for info without first reading the forum is BS. It's pretty obvious when they don't. I've been on many newsgroups in the past that just went to hell because of BS. It takes time to gain trust here. That is done through the exchange of information, not by blowing kisses in someones ear. Just sayin'.

As a newbie with a few reports and the recipient of information from senior members, I can appreciate the process of providing information before you ask for any. There is a certain amount of research that can be done, and should be done before you start asking questions. Reports are the only way that the folks on this board can evaluate who you are. Why should they share valuable (individualized) information before you have some reasonable validation? Everyone can search the previous threads to determine for themselves if information is available to answer general questions, even specific information about girls. It's just lazy to register, contribute nothing to the board, then start asking questions. Look, report (something substantive), then ask questions. What good would the board be if the forums were full of questions? Forcing newbies to contribute something, and ridiculing them when they don't, is the only way to avoid a board chalked full of inquiries and little valuable information.

Still you should never make you first post a question of where, I mean there are pages to look through just scan back and read. And we usually still only trust certain members with information, seniors are almost always trusted, and if regular members post some information that seems legit we tend to be a bit more lenient on them as well. Personally if some one comes in with hand open and nothing to offer i am going to bit wary, I would see that they can offer something if it is not alot, a little to offer is better than asking everything to be given freely.

I heard on WRVA this morning the Henico Police did a prositution sting through CL ads in a hotel near the airport. I don't see anything in the Times-Dispatch. I think 5 women and three men were arrested, one a john. Anyone else know anything about this?

I have TOFFT on several occassions but in light of the recent Henrico Sting, I think it is fair too be a bit cautious on ladies we see from CL.
