A few things to bear in mind:

1, some mongers, I'll bet quite a few, enjoy the thrill of the hunt. Many of us can get laid without mongering, but there's a special thrill to searching for an SW. It is nice to have a reliable go-to if you strike-out, though.

2, as someone on the Hartford SW thread recently mentioned encountering, you can have multiple good sessions with a SW only to find that she was building up trust to get you to let your guard down, and then rips you off after knowing her for a while. Making digits available is also a way of identifying known scam artists who are using a different name but are still using the same number.

3, promoting top-notch SWs by giving their digits to other senior members gives the SW more business, encouraging her to keep at it and giving her the $ to keep those digits active. Chances are any senior member has been doing this enough to have the sense to play safe, so the SW is less likely to pick up a disease. If she's with more positive mongers who treat her well she's also likely to keep her enthusiasm and not become one of the worn-out shells you see out there. And finally, allowing her to get more of her business privately rather than looking on the streets reduces the chance of her getting nabbed by Uncle LEO or getting picked up by some psycho.

Ran the loop earlier this morning, around 11:30 or so, and came upon Beth, back side of G Street. Right around the corner, and looked like three other corners, was uncle L, watching. Did the loop this morning, by the bus stop, out came Melissa. Way too many LE around for my liking, so I passed. Rest of area was dead. There seems to be a dark green LE car parked around G street latley, everytime I go by there.

My problem with digits is that I've gotten a few in my time, but they almost never work. Usually the phone in question is out of minutes. I haven't tried the last set I got yet, but may try this weekend. I'll let you know if they turn out to be valid.

Also, I don't know if other mongers do this, but I consider it a point of etiquette to ask the SW if it's okay to give her digits to "a friend" before ever PMing them to anyone. I've never really had occasion to since they've rarely worked.
