I agree with a lot of this.

There's some disagreement among psychologists that there even exists such an thing as sex addiction. I think it's relative to your situation. If you are open and honest towards your sexual partners (and I'm not addressing your situation because I don't know enough to say, but just writing generally) there is no problem, assuming the other parts of your "vision of a sex addict" are absent, too. But if you want to quit because of your situation in life, for example married, cannot afford scandal, nearly broke, etc, then you might be an addict and need help, in my opinion.

Only a small percentage of the posts here have been helpful, and I liked the one you quoted. Very amusing. Let me add that I think the Sugar Baby route is a superior way to go if you can afford it and can keep the emotional distance. For me, it would be financially ruinous and emotionally strenuous. But that's just me.

Following up my post 341 below.

It's been over a year since I quit seeing prostitutes. It was not easy, especially at first, but now my mind has changed completely. This is not a moralising post, though, because I had "been there, done that" for a long time. It's been a long time coming.

The book I mentioned in post 341 is useful, but I think only if you are ready to quit. I think a big contributor to my ability to quit was simply reaching a certain age. I imagine that a lot of guys would need an intervention or a crisis to quit. Probably when I was in my 20's I would not be successful. The book mentioned in 341 has a lot of useful advice (not all applicable to me) and points out the origin of this "addiction" or whatever we want to call it, and offers a lot of other useful insight into prostitution.

One big thing I did to help myself: I had a major anniversary last year and bought my wife the super-expensive luxury car she had always dreamed of. This not only improved my relations with her, but helped force me to abandon extra expenses like prostitution, unless I was so far gone that I was willing to dig into our kid's college savings, which I thought I was not, and that proved true. Unrelated to anything I've mentioned so far, we had some other financial crises this year, which helped distract me from prostitution, but I still have that absurdly expensive car, which for me has become a symbol of my commitment to change.

I feel a lot better. As I said, my mind has changed. And I feel a mix of pride for quitting and humility for my past.

I enjoy good sex, but find that cruising a lot when there is little to no SW's to be depressing. This is the situation we ave in San Diego. So these days I only cruise when I am in the area or make a occasional recon. Otherwise I make a trip to Tijuana a few times a month. The other issue is that gas is so expensive that it is easy to blow through $20 worth of gas. There used to be a quite a few girls on ECB in SD. So there was a certain thrill in the hunt. Congratulations! I've been trying to quit this addiction for the past 10 years. I'm afraid to get any books and have them found around the house.
