Thirteen people found Monday a bad day to shop for sex in downtown Davenport.
In a sting using undercover female Davenport police officers, 12 men and one woman were arrested for prostitution. All were misdemeanor charges.
A 39-year-old woman was arrested for interference with official acts and harassment of a public official for telling one man he was speaking to an undercover police officer, according to police.
The men ranged in age from 17 to 26, according to police. Five of the men were from Davenport, but one man was from Dubuque, Iowa, and another man, who works for a local trucking company, provided an address in Buckeye, Ariz. The Davenport woman arrested for prostitution was 19.
The men solicited various sex acts for $20-$40 according to police reports.
The sweep, involving officers from the department’s vice, patrol and NETS units, worked from about 4 p.m. to midnight on detail, according to police. About 20 officers were involved.
Arrests were made from River Drive to about three blocks north, and from Pershing Street west to South Concord Street, according to police.

The sting netted mostly men but managed to pick up a couple of Davenport Favorites.
Apparently Melissa was arrested for warning a "john" that he was talking to an undercover policewoman.
No details on Amanda.

Guess this is the one you are refering to. at least no one will have an advantage with this incedent in divorce court. The only other girl Amanda who was arrested loks a lot like the one I picked up last fall. She told me she was older than the article lists her as being. She did look a lot better in person than in her mugshot.
They weren't supposed to be together, but a Davenport couple were joined again Monday, arrested with 11 others in a prostitution sting.
Lee Andrew Ford, 42, allegedly offered a woman $20 for a sex act, according to affidavits filed in Scott County District Court. The woman was an undercover police officer posing as a prostitute. Mr. Ford was arrested and charged with prostitution at about 10:30 p.m.
His wife, Melissa C. Ford, 39, was arrested about 4 hours earlier in the same area, 2nd and Warren streets, according to another court affidavit. Mrs. Ford was arrested when she tried warning a man that the woman he was talking to was an undercover officer, the affidavit states.
She was arrested again a bit later in the area of 4th and Myrtle streets. During the arrest, she allegedly slipped the handcuffs off her wrist in an attempt to flee, the affidavit states. She was charged with interference with official acts and harassment of a public official.
She joined her husband Tuesday morning, appearing via closed-circuit TV in Scott County District Court.
The Fords are scheduled to appear in court today over a temporary protective order for 'relief from domestic abuse.' It was filed last week.
Thirteen people in all were arrested Monday as Davenport police conducted undercover prostitution stings in downtown Davenport. Most of the arrests occurred in the 900 block of West 2nd Street, a hot spot for prostitution, police say.
Other nearby areas included the 100 block of North Myrtle Street, the 1400 block of West River Drive and the 200 block of East 2nd Street.
Both male and female undercover officers either attempted to solicit sex acts from alleged prostitutes or posed as prostitutes. Prices for the acts ranged from $20 to $35, according to the affidavits.
The 11 men arrested allegedly propositioned undercover female police officers and requested a wide range of sexual acts, the affidavit states.
The arrests occurred between about 4:40 p.m. to about 11:10 p.m.

Amanda M. Whitney, 19, of 1825 W. 40th St., Davenport.
All suspects were released from the Scott County Jail Tuesday and given court dates to appear for their misdemeanor charges.
