The humorous results of language differences
It's easy to take things at face value in one's own culture. But every so often, you comes across something that is a result of language differences between another culture and your own. And, if you take it at face value, it seems odd. You ask yourself, "WTF do they mean by that?" If and when you figure it out, it brings a smile. For instance, I came across the following on one of the other ad sites yesterday:

I said to myself, "What the heck is '360 rotation?" And then, it occurred to me. A "hobby" term we often use is unfamiliar to them. So, to understand it, they've translated it from English to Chinese. Then, when composing an ad in English (where the person composing the ad might not be aware of what the original slang term was), the "best guess" translation makes its way into the text of the ad.
So, what exactly does "360 rotation" mean?
Well, they're trying to tell us that their girls are. . . "Spinners".
Listcrawler was working this morning
Yesterday the site was on and off, today it doesn't seem to work at all. I wonder what's going on.
Spoke to an old favorite of mine, Star DeMarco (https://mobile.twitter.com/demarcostar?lang=en) and she's convinced that BP was just the beginning and that uncle LEO is in the near future going to clamp down on the rest and that the only way to soon visit those site will be via VPN. TER has already gone this way.
Suppose we're either going to save numbers now or get smart on VPNs if she right.
Safe Journeys,
Vance.
Listcrawler was working when I checked it a few minutes ago. However, it asked me whether I was an American citizen. I lied and said "no" so it let me onto the site. They hadn't been asking that question recently, so I'm puzzled as to what's going on.
Saving numbers is a good thing, but don't forget that providers frequently change numbers or use multiple numbers. Perhaps it's only a matter of time before authorities begin cracking down on other sites. However, I don't see how American authorities can have any jurisdiction over sites such as this one which are based in other countries. Also, I'm hoping that sooner or later a judge will tell authorities to knock it off unless they have actual evidence of human trafficking.
